I got a call from Andrew from Iraq tonight. He recently was promoted to Specialist. He re-enlisted until the year 2014, and he got a $37,000 signing bonus! And, since he signed up while "in theater" it's tax free. He comes home in October. Next year he will be move from being a Cavalry Scout to get medic training. Oh, and while he's been over there, he's been taking online courses from one of the better online universities. He almost has a two year degree already.

BTW... Kalee is doing great in college. And, even though she's just a freshman, she's already the top runner on their track and field team. The other day she posted this on her Facebook page...

No one is telling me the speed I should be travelling so watch me take the lead

Thanks, guys. Coincidentally, my youngest son starts classes at an historic military academy tomorrow (his choice). The school doesn't actually have combat tactics training, but he does aspire to be a Marine. Wild, wacky stuff!

Jack had his pediatrician visit yesterday for his 2 yrs old checkup. According to the doctor, Jack can be medically classified as a giant for his age. At 37.5 inches tall, he is 1.5 inches taller than your average 3 year old. And at 31 lbs, he has the weight of a 2.5 year old. Doc said that he will be much taller than me when he's sixteen. Heather ran Jack's info and our info thru a program and it said that Jack will be anywhere from 6'4" to 6'8" by the time he's 18.

When I heard that I thought, "How in the hell am I going to be able to feed that kid?"

My son just had his 2 year checkup and had the EXACT same measurements.

yeah, apparently the trick with little kids is you're supposed to have them march on the ice. for whatever reason that does the trick (probably has to do with putting your feet down flat and not going heel first). i didn't remember that trick till someone else suggested it. the vid is from the very end of a lap; wish my wife had gotten one at the start because he always started out better, then lost focus toward the end and just went along for the ride.

it's inside the palisades mall in nyack. it's like a refrigerator in there, wish i'd thought of that when it was in the 90s.

Liam TitePants was born 11/21/11. 8 pounds 8 ounces and 21 inches long. The really weird thing is Thanksgiving weekend is the 2nd anniversary of my 1st date with my wife. I am 33 now and it has been a BIG adjustment to get used to my new life. But at the same time, it feels totally normal and natural too. It's funny how you just adapt and roll with what life throws at you.
