And the Pirates wonder why they suck balls.. They deal Oli Perez and Aramis ramierz and got dick for both of them.. Nice work that GM is doing up there..

aramis rameriez
July 23, 2003: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Kenny Lofton and cash to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named later, Jose Hernandez, and Matt Bruback (minors). The Chicago Cubs sent Bobby Hill (August 15, 2003) to the Pittsburgh Pirates to complete the trade.

How old is Ramierz?? he Can't be past 28 29. which made him like 24 35.. Just checked he just turns 29 on the 25th.. So they deal a 25 year old power hitting 3b.. AND then a 23 year old Lefty pitcher.. Is it the same GM?? And if so.. why does he still have a job??

Dave Littlefield, Senior Vice President & General Manager
Dave Littlefield was named Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 13, 2001, thus becoming the 11th G.M. in the history of the club.
he also traded away brian giles which got them olie perez and jason bay
so not all moves failed and i think he's still there

Clemens pitched a hell of a game.. Its just the Yanks propensity to make lefties look like Sandy Kaufax, that did him in.. Even the Pirates Lefties had good games vs us..

And Ollie comes up big in a pressure game again.
i don't trust perez farther than i can throw him across the foul line! when he's good, he's good, but when he gets in a funk, he'll walk the bases loaded in 12 pitches.
plus, the whole jumping-over-the-foul-line thing is bush-league nonsense. one of these days, he's gonna twist an ankle doing that...

It was three weeks ago the Mets faced the Yanks at Shea and A-Rod had homer there too. Glavine started that game, but it was Schoenweis that gave up the homer. The Mets need to rally so that they can salvage this game.

Listen, before we start throwing around accusations like that let's remember that he leads the team in RBIs and is second in HRs, is tied for second in doubles. It's stuff in the clutch when he hasn't come through at all and also just the simple lead off hit and such.

Yea but didnt he do that in a like a 3 week stretch?? Someone on the fan did make a good point.. Maybe having his 1st kid a while ago.. His mind is there and he misses him and his mind is there.. remember his house is in Fla.. And he has that huge series in Fla.. All i keep hearing is how bad he is from Mets fans.. Didnt know that about the stats.. hi avg is pretty low though
docgoblin

Lets not forget that they made the Yanks and Mariano sweat in the 9th. They did score 8 runs (Of course Beltran did pop-up on the first pitch for the last out... but I digress). It was really the pitching, and especially Glavine, that screwed them today. The team kept getting a lead, then Glavine would give it right back. The offense did all they could. Even with Beltran and Delgado remaining cold as ice.

By his standards he's having a terrible season. He's on pace for about 25 and 95. He had a 2 month slump last year before he had a kid so I doubt that's it. He had elbow surgery in the off season and some people think it's that. His walks are way down so it seems like he's imaptient. His OBP is down 70 points from last year. Who knows?

You really never know with these guys.. Look at Abrau.. He looked like a little leaguer for 2 months.. Then one day he just snapped out of it.. Started hitting walking.. They are a special breed.. You never know when and how they will come out of it..

True. And Degado's resume is in a league beyond Abreu. You just have to wait it out. Maybe if Alou ever comes back they can drop him to 6th again since he responded to it last time. But this is why I love baseball. By this time next week he could be the hottest player in the league.

He gave up less runs then Glavine and El Duque. He lasted longer than both of them and it was only his 2nd start. We over payed but the Yankees need him to be the number 4th starter not an ace.

And He gave up less runs than those has-beens because the Mets haven't been able to knock in guys that are in scoring position for three weeks. Wait'll good 'ol Rog faces a real lineup like the Tigers or the Sox. He's had no competition yet and he's 1-1 with a 3.65 ERA... Gimmie a break!

Tonight?!?!.. The Mets offense has sucked for almost a month! And Clemens' only other worthy advisary was the noodle swinging Pittsburgh Pirates! He just earned 2 million dollars so far and he's .500 with a 3.65 ERA...And more telling; he's got a 1.22 WHIP... Extremely mediocre numbers for a million bucks a game if you ask me!
BTW.. If you look at the RonFez.Net Fantasy League you'll see that I have Wang. I drafted him in lthe 2nd or 3rd round. I know he's one of the best in the majors. In fact, I believe he's worth far more than Clemens The Mercenary... As a matter of fact, I hope, in Clemens' next start, that Matt Holliday rips one up the middle so hard that it hits his fibula and takes him out like Theismann in '85... Then the Yanks have to pay him 21,000,000 dollars to lay on his couch.

Its fucking amazing how a month ago the Mets had one of the best records in baseball. Now they have the worst record amongst first place teams. Lets just thank God the Braves have played just as shitty and havent taken advantage of the Mets skid.
The only thing to figure out is what the hell is wrong?? Is it their are too many injuries?? I know that Alou is set to return as should Endy. Delgado is looking weak of late, and Glavine looks 61, not 41. Yet, I will watch every game and go to every Saturday game as part of my Shea package. Just scary to see a team take a tail spin like this. I only pray this is the worst skid of the season for the Metropolitans.

See I agree about it better to be happening now than later on during the season especially at August/Sept time. And I dont see the starting pitching as being as bad as it was when the season started last year. Remember Brian Bannister was one of the starters at the beginning of last year. I think Maine, Perez and Sosa have been nice; it is just plain old bad luck they have had the last few weeks. And that bad luck extends to Glavine as well. Now lets hope that Pedro comes back like the Pedro of old and we will have someone nice come playoff time. If they dont collapse and allow the Braves to overtake them in the meanwhile...

Like I said earlier. We are lucky that the rest of the NL east is weak this year. Goddamn these Mets are terrible in June. They need some sort of shake-up. Bring Heilman in for a start, or bring up one of the kids from the farm. I am not saying it has to be one of those things (and personally I think Heilman would be terrible as a starter), but Goddamn we need something to shake up this skidding team.

The only spot I really worry about this team with is LF. You can't count on Alou. I like Alou and when he was in there he hit but he's never here. I admit that when Omar signed him I loved it but now I'm really worried. I like what I have seen from Gomez but right now he is a 7 or 8 hitter when our LF was supposed to be a 6 hitter protecting Wright. I think Omar will go get a starting pitcher (Burhle has been mentioned) even if Pedro looks to be fine. But to get a good LF bat will be tough right now.

I am not fine with a LF platoon. Alou has the best bat and if he is healthy, he needs to be in. Chavez has been exposed and is every time he plays more than once or twice evry 6 games. Gomez is to young to sit around. They need him now, but he needs to get more at bats to become a success.
Side note. Milledge needs to be traded soon. His stock has the rest of this year left. fewer and fewer teams seem to care about him

Milledge hasn't played in a couple of months and is still a few weeks away from playing so I'm not sure he will get traded this season, maybe in the off season. But trading him and Heilman for Zito last year would have been a disaster. The Mets would have had to sign Zito for what ever he wanted and look what he got. There is no way I want Zito for that long or for that $.
EDIT: Just looked: He's got a 4.83 ERA this year. You want 6 more years of that?

I was at the game last night...my seats are in the loge section 24 for every Saturday game. I mention this cause they are good seats but not that close to home plate. I had gotten back from the bathroom last night when LoDuca got thrown out and man alive you could hear him yelling from my area in spite of the crowd roaring too.
All in all it was a great game, a nice pitchers duel which to me is better than lots of runs anyday. El Duque stiking out a guy with a 53 MPH changeup is nice to see too. About time we won a series, and we are lucky the Braves are so terrible.

John Maine should be on the All-Star team. 9-4, 2.74 ERA in 16 games started. That pretty good. I don't think anyone expected that. The man can be 10-4 when the break comes around, he's in line to pitch against the Rockies at Coors Field.
