I'm going the opposite direction here, and sarcastically pointing out that attacking Anthony because he correctly believes that western society is largely responsible for this technological paradise we're living in in which you can fly from one end of the world to the other in a day, poor people can afford to be obese, and criticizing your country's leader doesn't get your beheaded IS revisionist history. We're living in a country where you can't put a picture of a woman in a kitchen in a social studies text book because that sends a message about the limited abilities of a female, even though up until about 30 years ago going back to the beginning of this country, if you were looking for a woman, a kitchen was a good place to start your search. You CAN put in pictures of woman working a jackhammer, although if you crossed the country looking for a woman working a jackhammer, you'd probably come up with less than 50.

The Tea Party Movement, in principle, is about people who want smaller government, smaller (or no) deficits, free markets, and support private enterprise. Calling them racists is just a mechanism to discredit and disregard them, nothing more. The fact is that any criticism leveraged at the current administration is now answered with two blanket responses, i)you're a racist, or ii)the failed policies of the previous administration are to blame. They're both getting pretty tiresome.

The Enlightenment had more to do with the decline of the Church in Western Civ than simply with firearms. People started living longer, contemporary methods of production were expanded (the Industrial Revolution) and people were becoming more educated and began questioning things like the influence of the Church and their Governments.

Where exactly did this "small, highly trained martial minority" succeed in ending feudalism? We didn't win the Revolution until France (a conventional contemporary European Army) came in on our side after Saratoga and trapped the British at Yorktown. Before that, the war was an absolute fucking disaster. The French Revolution had as much to do with a wildly unpopular monarchy (and Church) as it did with a militia. Germany was a collection of various kingdoms that didn't exist proper until 1870.


Anthony's point (as I recall it) was basically that technology is what determines an "advanced" culture, which is what I disagree with. How do you define "advanced"? It's too broad of a definition. How do you define "superior" technology? He kept harping on the fact that "the Africans didn't have guns" while completely ignoring their suffering from various western diseases they had never been exposed to, which is exactly what happened to the Native peoples over here.

Ever read anything about Zulu battle tactics? They weren't an "advanced" society in your definition, but their military tactics were ingenious. Which again, when you're analyzing complex human societies, it's just too fucking simple to say "oh this one's advanced and this one's not because they have 'superior' technology" because the world, and societies, aren't that fucking simple.

It's called "inferring" and you might want to look it up. It's a little thing us adults do. We see what someone is putting out on the surface, but many times people aren't clever enough to keep the lie going all the way through their lives. Much like Anthony.

We could go on and on about his life, I've already seen how unhappy he is. He still lets Paltalkers and Internet people get him pissed off. (remember the Ron and Fez Unity show where he called in to yell at people in studio who weren't nice enough to him? Yea, very stable.) He gets in relationships with women and screws them up for himself. He whines on air about "drama" yet he dates girls from an age range that are nothing but drama queens. (not that all girls aren't to some extent.) He keeps himself finely tuned between drunk and oblivious to his own feelings.

Now, onto his abysmal performance on Opie and Anthony. Just about every fucking conversation degrades into a rant from Anthony.

This is all I really need to know. Anthony stopped trying to just have fun with the show a long fucking time ago and it took me awhile to figure that out. Now that I have I just don't listen and it's great.

Anthony's point (as I recall it) was basically that technology is what determines an "advanced" culture, which is what I disagree with. How do you define "advanced"? It's too broad of a definition. The point is his unhappiness seems to bleed into his show in the form of boring, repetitive rants and drives listeners away. Myself being a longtime O&A fan who recently left. He isn't entertaining most of time, that's the problem.

I think it was a gradual thing. I mean we all know he's had the tendencies. I remember him talking about how the N word was getting thrown around like it was part of people's everyday vocabulary in the house he grew up in. He likes to talk about that like it's a normal situation. Sorry, my home wasn't like that. Just because we weren't black ourselves doesn't mean my parents threw racial slurs around for shit and giggles. I aint gonna act like I never heard the work in my life but not every Caucasian family are closet racists.

I think it really started to show, for me at least, around the time of the Unity Show that Ron and Fez did. It wasn't until the point where I heard a millionaire call into a radio show to yell at people who weren't nice enough to him on the internet. This was a turning point for me in my opinion of Anthony. I saw how petty he was, how easy it was to get at him. While he should be a confident guy, comfortable with himself because he's a funny broadcaster on a funny show, he's an insecure douche who worries what people on message boards and Paltalk have to say about him.

I think this had a lot to do with him retreating to only listening to his close friends and his approved Paltalk fans. So when his pre-approved audience hears him make a racist joke, the let him know it's the best thing they've ever heard and he thinks he's doing a good job. Pretty much an army of YES men and women.

So yea, for me, turning point was the Unity Show. That was what? 2 or 3 years ago at this point? Feels like that long at least. But there's more to the story I can't quite put my finger on. When did he start this political rant bullshit? I know it was before the last presidential election but got to the point where I couldn't even listen during the election.

another thing...what's interesting is how the listening threads of wackbag have gone down in different people among them and how many actually are talking about the show and not their own topic with the show as a background. i used to love starting the threads cause i obviously used to love the show...then the paltalk thing came and i stopped cause it was hard to concentrate on both the show, the chat room and the board...good thing i stopped.

I think there was another Halloween show when virtually no one showed up and it was never mentioned on air after it happened.

yes the halloween show that was during the obama-mccain election year. (no flava flav at this one). Basically there was no crowd, if someone wanted to crowd surf they would have gotten hurt if they leap too far off the stage (basically dropped into an empty space).
Ant was making comments about how the crowd looked like a McCain Rally (bitterly i might add) then looked at me saying "oh you would like that wouldn't you"...he was basically giving up on McCain taking the white house....again i add...bitterly.

It started late...and ended early. And we never heard of it again.

From going to Ass to Dick crowds...to what looked more like an extended police line up (meaning few people). I'm sure they figured their time doing live shows was up. I don't think that's completely true but ...lol I'm sure seeing that little of a crowd hurt big time. I wonder how if they did another live gig would it be like...or has ant turned off more people than kept loyal to the show.

I blame them for the fucking Traveling Virus bullshit. They foster this dog eat dog kind of mentality with their fans. I would think enough time has past to get another show going. Even if it was a one shot deal this summer, but i honestly think they are afradi they won't sell out or even sell enough to get a venue to let them host.

I re-listened to the O&A Fight from last year. I wonder just how much Opie still feels about letting the contract run out and quitting.
