My five year old was just walking around the house blowing a horn she got at a b-day party(asshole parents). She stops for a second and says"It sounds like I'm killing a moose." and off she goes blowing away again. Had to chuckle.

So I was whistling to BabyBandit last night and she was so intrigued that she tried to whistle back. However all she could manage was tightening her lips and grunting a bit. It was so precious I couldn't even stand it. And this was after Piuki and I were feeding both kids dinner and I waved at Beer Jr. all the way across the table and right next to me Babybandit yelled, "Hi Daddy."

She's so frigging awesome.

My 18 month old daughter insists on having part of our Rockband Family Fun Night. My 6 year old son pulls out the wii board for her. She dances while we rock out....the only thing is she lifts her shirt up the whole time she is dancing. Do you think I should be worried? I really don't want my daughter to be a pole dancer in the future.

Small children and nudity seem to go hand-in-hand.

If you freak out over it, she'll just do it more.

She'll outgrow it. Don't worry ... she's 18 months old; she has no concept of sexuality. Right now, it's just cute.

The only time it's embarrassing is when you have to go to a dance recital and watch 4-year-olds do hip-thrusts in skimpy spandex costumes and feel obligated to "ooh" and "ahh" while you are secretly horrified.

wow skeet, that's the best mothersday gift! :)

I have to say that my son is cracking me up more and more every day. As he gets older and talks non stop he is quite hilarious.
Last night he yelled for me to help him opening a cabinet that has a child lock and as he calls me he says: "Mommy! I cannot open that piece of wood! I need your help!"

Then at bed time he had to go potty and well, he sat a while. Last week he had some bad diarrhea and I explained to him that that was what it was... well he tells me last night that he does not have "DiaRENA" anymore. As I try to make him say diarrhea he insists in calling it diarena... haha too funny.

I'm so bummed. I'm leaving at 4AM for Dulles Airport to fly to Kentucky to see my son at boot camp for Family Day Weekend. I got a call from his commander today. He said Andrew didn't pass his most recent PT test, so he can't have a weekend pass. He can still get day passes, but I have to have him back on the base by 8PM Friday and Saturday, and 3PM on Sunday. I'm sure we'll still have fun, but it's really going to put a damper on things. To make matters worse, he also fell and has a possible torn rotator cuff, so that means no Six Flags.

First thing Andrew did when I signed him out was buy a Snickers bar and another snack. He literally was like a kid in a candy store. Then he wanted to drive out of town to go to White Castle. He bought a giant box with 20 mini burgers in it with the intention of bringing some back for some of the guys who were stuck on base. As we sat there eating for a few minutes, I noticed the size of empties in front of him. Without realizing it, he had scarfed down 12 of them!

As I mentioned above, Andrew has a torn rotator cuff. In a training exercise simulating clearing insurgents out of a building, the guy behind him accidentally kicked the back of his leg, causing to crash shoulder first into a curb.

Andrew gets an MRI on his shoulder on June 4th. On the 11th he finds out if he needs surgery. If he doesn't need surgery, he comes home for a 30 day convalescent leave. Then he goes back for rehab, and eventually will take his final PT test over (the one he failed) and will continue on with his Cavalry Scout training. Turns out, before he totally tore his rotator cuff, it was already inflamed. That would explain why the pushups were the only thing he didn't pass on the test the first time.

If he does need surgery, he will get it then get a medical discharge from the Army. He's obviously depressed about that. Though he says, if it's clear the injury could not be prevented by him, he will continue to be paid for the duration of his original commitment.

I don't have access to my photo editing with me here, so these pics look bad for now...

A lot of newborns get it but it is not uncommon in kids.

Not really. She seems to be going to the bathroom ok. She just got a fever one night, and thew up a little. No ear infection, so they tested for the UTI. I hear it is common, I just hope it is not recurring or anything more serious

If you wipe a girl back to front, bacteria from the feces is moved to the area surrounding the urethra. The bacteria like the area because it is warm and moist so they start multiplying. Then they eventually spread themselves into the opening of the urethra. If left untreated they use the urethra as a ladder and infect the bladder, then they move up the ureters into the kidneys.

I am hoping it is something that simple. They want to give her an ultrasound to rule out blockages in her kidneys and then they want to do some other test to rule out urinary reflux. Bascially they put a dye in and watch. not looking forward to that. and we have to wait 6 weeks until we do that test, because it has to be after she finished her antibiotics. argh.

In the 59 year history of our town's Little League, no team in Sean's division has EVER scored more runs in a regular season (This includes a few "mercy rule" innings)

No team has EVER let up fewer runs in a regular season.

With the exception of 2 kids quitting, and 2 young rookies, this is the same team that only won 2 games last year!

Today's game(s) was Standing Room Only.

Regular Season Champs, and a bye in the first round of the playoffs!

At the awards presentation Moira received 4 additional scholarship awards for leadership and community involvement in different amounts to go along with the athletic scholarship she has already received which was a big thrill for her and us. It will go along way towards offsetting the rest of the cost for her attending Boston College in the fall.

As a side note the Graduating members of the Track team are as follows

Class Valedictorian Full ride scholarship to Duke University
2 Full ride ROTC scholarships to RPI
1 Commission to the United States Naval Academy
University of Notre Dame
Syracuse Uniiversity
Mount Saint Marys University

Then you post them using the "Insert Image" icon in your post by grabbing the URL of the image and pasting it into the popup box. Hit the "submit reply" button and you're done.

you sure make big babies then... I remember Lukas always being in the 5th percentile for both until he dropped off the chart around 6 months and then slowly made it back up to the 15th by his 2nd b-day. The only thing that was always in the 80-90% range was his head...hehe probably explains his being so stubborn and smart.

Lukas is really enjoying Germany. He eats all day long, his mouth never stands still, I wonder if he will grow a bit from this trip cause he got some serious nutrition booster over the past week alone. My friend visited with her son Lucas who just turned 3... he is already taller and bigger than Lukas... makes me reqalize what a peanut I am raising.

ScottFromGA
06-07-2009, 08:26 AM
i wouldnt say that, dear. My brothers youngest daughter is about to be 4 and Anberlin (2) is almost eye level with her.....

he'll hit his spurt one day and you'll go, "Aww...where'd my lil peanut boy go to?!?!?"

On another note, Am I the only one that is struggling with the fact that one day my child is gonna be bigger and act older than she does now? I mean...I'm so IN LOVE with the fact of the way she is now....shes so much fun! Her size, the way she talks, the way shes learning and how it amazes me......I feel like when she gets past this stage, I just don't know what else to expect or if I'm going to be as amazed as much cause this is the years of her life that everything she absorbs is a nugget of knowledge. It's just so cool.....

Has any other parent here ever had this thought or feeling?

I am worried about him getting older for selfish reasons because he is pretty funny and incredibly cute these days... and so smart and I love the way he sees the world and explores it. He is not shy and really loves people around him...

I dropped my oldest off at camp this afternoon. She's with a couple of friends and it's just two nights. I have to admit, I'm already missing her. It's the furthest distance she's been away from home and tomorrow is her birthday. She'll be 11, my first baby is growing up.

(Not my kid, but I'm proud of this nonetheless)

I got this email this morning from my mom about my niece:

Kyra, who said she couldn't give her hair to kids with cancer because she wasn't done with it, has gotten the cut and made the donation.

YIPPEE!!!! We are all excited about the hair cut.

Her hair had been longer than waist-length, so this is a huge change for her.

I have to relay one of the things I love about our youngest Riley right now. She is completely into her sleep schedule, so much that every night around 6 to 6:30, she is the one who tells us it's time for her to go to bed. She can't talk yet, but usually she'll be sitting on the floor and say "uh" with her hands up, and she'll grab her sleeping blanket to tell us she wants to go to bed. So my wife or I will pick her up, put the blanket on our shoulder and she'll lay her head down on the blanket. It's so cute. Two nights ago, rather than doing that routine, she took her blanket to safety gate by our stairs, pulled herself up and pointed up towards her bedroom.

So every night she's in bed by 6:30 pm, usually sleeps the night through and gets up at 6:45-7:00 am.

Now if we could get Maggie to sleep through the night, we could get a good night's rest and perhaps I could have the energy to wake up early and work out.

Several x-rays and an abdominal CT scan later at least the surgen isn't in a big hurry to go after her appendix. Poor thing went all day without a single bite to eat and only a big glass of crap to drink before the scan. Be fore he left, the surgen himself went and got her a turkey and cheese sandwich and chocolate milk. She said it wasn't that good but she wasn't about to stop eating it.

Fingers crossed she'll feel better in the morning.

I just realized Jack turns a year old in two weeks.

After the first two months of absolute hell-on-earth, the rest of the time really flew. He's now crawling (though he prefers to "butt-scoot"), can pull himself up to standing, and has 8 teeth with his first molars just starting to erupt. According to 8, he calls for "ma-ma" on and off during the day.; when he hears me coming up the stairs of our apartment, he quickly butt-scoots over to the gate with a huge grin on his face.

We're most likely going to do a July 4th BBQ/birthday party with 8's family, and then take him up to my mom's for his birthday week.

The bad news... My daughter is staying with me for the summer and she's at that "stay out too late without permission and hang out with the guy that dad doesn't approve of" stage.

The good news is... Though my older son is miserable in his Army medical rehab unit, he's met a girl he really likes. She hurt her shoulder in Iraq trying to grab onto a moving Humvee.

PS... What sort of threats can one make that will strike fear in a 18 year old guy, but not get one one arrested for said threats?

I can't believe there was a time when I thought that parenting would get easier once the kids are older.:wallbash:

In that situation I would think subtlety would work best. I know guys my sister would bring home were alot more scared of my dad because theyd come over and see him sharpening a hatchet or yelling in Italian over the phone then they would be if he gave the "If you hurt my princess..." speech.

haha, I doubt any of this would still impress the kids these days...

I think key is to have an open relationship with your daughter where she feels like she does not need to hide and be secretive... maybe tell her if you can trust her then she could stay out later one night a week in return... and rather have those guys around her when you are somewhat near cause then you can better judge who they are... just be nice yet strict with them, cause when they start thinking you are their "drinking buddy" they lose respect as much as when you threaten them.
Of course that is easier said than done...

and on another note, even though I sound like some foreign idiot in this (cause we have been mixing English and German since we got back so my English has been suffering quite a bit) but this is Lukas when he first got his new Power Wheels ATV thingy... he loves it.

We just got back from the first swim meet of the year. In his first race (freestyle) Sean came in dead last. By almost 8 meters.

I couldn't be more proud of him.

The team was light in that event, so Sean was competing in the 13-14 year old group. Everyone from both teams congratulated him.

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/2716/img00228.jpg

He came in 3rd in the backstroke today. (in the proper age group) He lost his goggles at the start. That messed him up a bit with seeing the wall and water in the nose, but still a good try.
