But it's hard to imagine creating a hole in your rotation that you dont have a prospect to fill, that you cant fill up with nearly the same potential in the market, to get a third baseman or an outfield piece that seems like it'd be way easier to fill. Plus this would have to be a low point for Cliff Lee's value.

Although, Rueben Amarro is an asshole who already traded Cliff Lee for nothing when he was coming off a great year.

so far it seems he has some fascination with yankee moves overall, and even the Montero trade will probably look bad over time when Pineda comes back and tosses 102 on the gun and becomes a stud in the rotation. The guy is 23, 6'7" and throws pure heat and will grow as he comes back from surgery. It seems a HUGE percentage of pitchers go through this now, he just happened to do it the first year with NY. He's not a pure free agent until 2017 (sal arb elg next year) and only made 500+k this year so his sal arb/contract won't break any bank...especially in NY.

On the other end of that trade Noesi is a pile of shit even at the 5th spot in the rotation and Campos projects way better to me as a big kid with multiple pitches above his station thus far having only just turned 20.

I know most are shortsighted and will judge this on simply Montero playing at all and Pineda not, but factoring in everything and knowing everything takes time to play out, I truly believe the yanks won this trade getting one REALLY electric arm for the future and another who will climb through their system over the next few years and be a much better trade chip for them at worst, or another good arm in 2014/2015 range when he hits 23/24. Next year should be great, but dont give up this year yet, if they somehow pull off a miracle and snag a wild card spot all these other NL teams better watch out.

Yeah you're right, but this year could be the exception. Trout was far more valuable to his team -- especially when Pujols was playing like shit. Cabrera had Prince Fielder and Verlander to name a few being their usual beastly selves.

Regardless, its potentially historic either way: first Triple Crown since Yaz did it in 1967 and/or the first rookie to win ROY and MVP since Fred Lynn in 1975 and Ichiro in 2001.
