Why are you blaming the Yankees for this?

Standard Marlins business plan.

Fucker of it is... they've got 2 titles in the last 15 years, so as much as it pains me to say it, they do seem to know when it's time to hold 'em, and time to get picks / prospects for them.

Wish I could say the same for either the Cubs or Indians.

Don't think they have ever spent one year and not done this the next. After the first WS the FO was good enough to get good prospects. Just heard that in the last 10 Yrs not one 1st pick is on the team.

I said before the season I wanted him gone, also wanted them to get Prince F

let's not act like his biggest down year in a while isn't some small sample of a great overall player who will be MUCH bigger batting in that lineup versus Seattle's, especially if the match up vs pitchers with the other outfielders. and a guy hitting .261 in the 8th/9th hole is bad? I'm sure he'll hit higher on the yanks too, as he did tonight in the leadoff spot. He still had over 180 hits last year and it was hi FIRST year under .300 since he came to mlb way back in 2001.

Dumb, in that these two did their parts in playing well. I get that moves are to be made sometimes if thats the way the Org. wants to go, but do it with the ones that got you in the spot.

The others could follow a package of Ramirez and Bell was said to be offered for Crawford (Bos) before, and that could still be the case for what ever sucker / team wants them.

I was amazed that Texas wouldn't part with some of their prospects...as their minors are stacked. Come playoff time, I have no idea how they would deal with a rotation like the Angels have now: Weaver, Wilson, Greinke, Haren. That's just filthy.

He also took less money to play in Philly, so it'd be especially shitty for him.

But it's hard to imagine creating a hole in your rotation that you dont have a prospect to fill, that you cant fill up with nearly the same potential in the market, to get a third baseman or an outfield piece that seems like it'd be way easier to fill. Plus this would have to be a low point for Cliff Lee's value.

Although, Rueben Amarro is an asshole who already traded Cliff Lee for nothing when he was coming off a great year.

I do think it was time for them to trade him but it amazed me how people ripped him today. Fucking morons.

I actually heard slightly the opposite yesterday, guys acting like no victorino and no pence means we cant possibly win next year.

I like Shane except when he was swinging early and popping out, but I think he's looking for more time than they were willing to extend him. If the guy they got for him even turns out to be an OK middle reliever they got a good deal. I dont want to pick up Hamilton but I'd love to get Bourn back.

Same thing for Pence, if that catching prospect can develop it'll be nice to have a second catcher you actually want to pinch hit with, instead of Brian Snieder.

There was talk on ESPN about Strasburgs teammates voicing their opposition to shutting him down once he reaches 165 innings.

Rizzo wants to make sure that their franchise player doesnt injure himself from being overworked after coming back from Tommy John surgery. The nats have a big problem on their hands with this because Strasburg has been effective this year but they are concerned on overusing him

Team doctors all agree with Rizzo but he should get some alternate opinions from docs outside the organization.

I see Rizzos point but how frustrating is it for your top pitcher not to be pitching in the postseason if youre a teammate of his.

so far it seems he has some fascination with yankee moves overall, and even the Montero trade will probably look bad over time when Pineda comes back and tosses 102 on the gun and becomes a stud in the rotation. The guy is 23, 6'7" and throws pure heat and will grow as he comes back from surgery. It seems a HUGE percentage of pitchers go through this now, he just happened to do it the first year with NY. He's not a pure free agent until 2017 (sal arb elg next year) and only made 500+k this year so his sal arb/contract won't break any bank...especially in NY.

On the other end of that trade Noesi is a pile of shit even at the 5th spot in the rotation and Campos projects way better to me as a big kid with multiple pitches above his station thus far having only just turned 20.

I know most are shortsighted and will judge this on simply Montero playing at all and Pineda not, but factoring in everything and knowing everything takes time to play out, I truly believe the yanks won this trade getting one REALLY electric arm for the future and another who will climb through their system over the next few years and be a much better trade chip for them at worst, or another good arm in 2014/2015 range when he hits 23/24. Noesi will be tossing junk for a while in MLB and Montero was a DH at best with NY and probably elsewhere. You don't move pitching for a DH unless they are TOP level guys, not prospects already limited to that position. NY has two guys in the system WAY better overall than Montero behind the plate, and Tex has first locked down for some time and his d alone would make him valuable even if down a little on offense.

Just my take, but tell me I'm just biased and present no facts WF. No better yet, just change this into I'm angry or some other stupid shit stream of thoughts swimming in your topic bipolar brain.

So if you mention Alfredo Griffin is it right to say you got it from some segment of whatever regional sports network the Jays are on?

I dont know how long you have been a Jays fan but its wrong of you to make an assumption of how long I have been following the Yankees.

You know people are going to use the fact that there have been 3 perfect games this season as "proof" that the Age of 'Roids is over, and pitchers are dominant again.

But I don't think perfect games prove anything, really. They're just such total flukes, so much a matter of luck, that I just think it's kind of freaky that we've had 3 this season, but it doesn't really show us anything about the nature of the game itself. Now, overall batting average, overall ERAs, that sort of thing, does. But not this.

This is fucking hilarious: as part of an effort to make it look like he accidentally tested positive for PEDs, which would let him avoid a suspension, Melky Cabrera set up a fake website touting a fake supplement that he was going to claim to have taken.

Famed steroid cop Jeff Novitzky, a criminal investigative agent for the Food & Drug Administration, and agents from MLB's Department of Investigation have begun looking into Cabrera's associates and his entourage, including trainers, handlers and agents, as they search for the source of the synthetic testosterone that appeared in a sample of the All-Star Game MVP's urine. The idea, apparently, was to lay a trail of digital breadcrumbs suggesting Cabrera had ordered a supplement that ended up causing the positive test, and to rely on a clause in the collectively bargained drug program that allows a player who has tested positive to attempt to prove he ingested a banned substance through no fault of his own.

What a fucking dumbass.

God damn, I hope he wins the batting title.

ESPN and Major League Baseball have agreed to a new eight-year, $5.6 billion broadcast rights deal, reports John Ourand in SportsBusiness Daily.

The deal will allow ESPN to carry a Wild Card game and feature popular teams such as the New York Yankees more often, Ourand reports.

The cost is “approximately double” the $306 million per year ESPN pays MLB to broadcast games, Ourand reports.

the braves are pretty much running away with the first one but the adding of the second has made 5 teams relevant and in the hunt when it would be far fetched

only thing that sucks is the braves get fucked for being a good to great team but bc the couldnt get past the nats and theres a 2nd wild card could get bounced by a team that barely wins 83 games

This year? Hamels hands down. I really hope they do make a good run simply because I think it would help in the maturation of guys like Dom Brown and Mayberry. Were gonna need at least one of those guys to be an everyday player next year.

Also, if the Phils or Brewers make the playoffs, I wouldnt want to be playing them if I was one of the other playoff teams.

If you are not good enough to beat an 8-8 or an 83win team, then you are not good enough to win.

I don't care if you play a 15 game reg season. Or get in with 60 wins. If you go through all those playoff rds without getting beat, you are the best team. Cards Giants last year, Packers the year before. And the Kings this year also.,Reg season really means nothing as far as judging teams.

And the Kings this year also.,Reg season really means nothing as far as judging teams.

judging no but basically a team that's been good to great all season is getting treated the same as a barely above 500 team that sneaks in a least in nfl those teams get 1 st round byes but it's been somewhat changed by the extra wild card putting more emphasis on winning ur division

Thats ok, we dont agree on everything. I just feel that as a team when you make the playoffs for the first time in 79 years, you kind of owe it to your fanbase to give it your best effort to win the World Series. Then again, they are making a playoff run and still not selling out the stadium, so maybe the fans dont deserve their best effort anyway.

With his sixth-inning home run in Kansas City, Miguel Cabrera is now alone in first place in all three triple crown categories, leading the American League with 44 home runs, a .329 average and 137 RBI. That, my friends, is known as the triple crown, a feat that hasn't been accomplished since 1967 -- 16 years before Cabrera was born.

Monday was a pretty good day for Cabrera, not only did he homer, he also went 4 for 5 and the Tigers wrapped up the American League Central.

So with that in the background, let's look at the triple crown categories with two games remaining…

Batting average
Cabrera .329
Mike Trout .325
Joe Mauer .322

Like Cabrera, Trout went 4 for 5 on Monday, finishing a homer short of the cycle against the Mariners. Trout improved his average to .325, while Mauer went 1 for 5, allowing the rookie to leapfrog the three-time batting champ.

Home runs
Cabrera 44
Josh Hamilton 43
Edwin Encarnacion 42
Adam Dunn 41
Curtis Granderson 41

Of the three categories, this is the only one that's unsettled, but with Cabrera in the lead, it's looking good.

RBI
Cabrera 137
Hamilton 127

With two games left, this one's in the bag.

Yeah you're right, but this year could be the exception. Trout was far more valuable to his team -- especially when Pujols was playing like shit. Cabrera had Prince Fielder and Verlander to name a few being their usual beastly selves.

Regardless, its potentially historic either way: first Triple Crown since Yaz did it in 1967 and/or the first rookie to win ROY and MVP since Fred Lynn in 1975 and Ichiro in 2001.

to me it's rewarding the lesser record team by giving them 2 games at home first

wait til the better record team has to go back home down 0-2 they're not gonna care that they get three in a row at home

2-2-1 is the most fair
