Just saw it on Politico.
No details on who did it however, I hope nobody assumes its a tea party member. Not downplaying it at all however there have been threats to assassinate Romney on twitter.
There are over 310 Million people in this country. There will be instances like these in such a big country with a huge population. Hopefully the police find the person who pulled the trigger.

I think Romney walking into that round house right on the Benghazi allegation shows the dangers of using Fox News as your only source for fact checking.
If this Obama had showed up at the first debate the race would be over and we'd be arguing over how many Senate seats the Republicans could expect to pick up. Now I think he still wins a second term but on a much closer vote than the first time.

Tearful Mitt Romney Announces He Has Rare Disease Where You Can't Sit Quietly On Stool When Repeatedly Asked To (http://www.theonion.com/articles/tearful-mitt-romney-announces-he-has-rare-disease,29959/)
Highly emotional in the wake of last night’s town-hall-style debate, a tearful Mitt Romney called a press conference this morning to “come clean” about having a rare, little-understood disease known as Shuttlesworth Syndrome, a condition that prevents its victims from sitting quietly on stools anytime they are repeatedly told to do so. “As a sufferer of this rare disorder, being told to sit down and shut up—particularly when a stool is involved—only provokes in my central nervous system a violent overreaction that forces me to behave in the exact opposite manner,” Romney told reporters, his voice cracking with emotion as he revealed his secret to the world. “Without meaning to, I reflexively stand up, stride forward, and continue trying to speak—doing so even, and especially, when one or more people are instructing me to stop talking immediately and go back to my stool. It is a truly debilitating condition that I have battled all my life.” Romney said additional symptoms of the syndrome include an inability to maintain a convincing human smile, inexplicable reversals of previously stated policy positions, and an impaired ability to chuckle without sounding like a deranged maniac.

Questioner: When Carter was president, we had hostages. Ronald Reagan was able to make a statement even before he became, he was actually sworn in, and the hostages were released…
Mitt Romney: On the day of his inauguration.
Questioner: Right. So my question is really how can you sort of duplicate that scenario?
Romney: I could ask you, I could ask you how you do I duplicate that scenario?
Questioner: I think it had to do with the fact that the Iranians perceived Reagan… That’s why I’m suggesting that something that you say over the next few months gets the Iranians to understand that their pursuit of the bomb is something that you would prevent. And I think that’s something that could possibly resonate very well with the American public
.
Romney: I appreciate the idea. One of the things that’s frustrating to me is that in a typical day like this, when I do three or four events like this, the number of foreign policy questions I get are between zero and one. And the American people are not concentrated at all on China, on Russia, Iran, Iraq. This President’s failure to put in place a status of forces agreement allowing ten to twenty thousand troops to stay in Iraq- unthinkable! And yet, in that election, in the Jimmy Carter election, the fact that we had hostages in Iran, I mean, that was all we talked about. And we had the two helicopters crash in the desert, I mean, that was the focus, and so him solving that made all the difference in the world. I’m afraid today that if you simply got Iran to agree to stand down on nuclear weapons, they’d go, “Now hold on. It’s really a-” I mean, if something of that nature presents itself I will work to find a way to take advantage of the opportunity.

This will ALWAYS be the case unfortunately, as a good percentage of the world simply do not pay attention to politics even though they impact their lives so much. I'm completely with Bill Maher on this one, fuck get out the vote and let those paying attention make rational choices based on actual understanding of the policies at least a little. I could care less if some idiot with zero take on elections actually gets to the voting booth. That's on them, why hold hands here unless it benefits your party. And hence there is your sorry answer.
There's a reason idiots vote only on fringe issues like abortion and it's so prominent in almost every election despite very little done in either direction...it sparks their "need" to vote and get involved due to their take on said laws, especially when they don't align with their religious take. Simply put, these issues will constantly be used to fire up factions, the base of both parties and worse for the foreseeable future. Along the way actual issues like education reform/college expenses, economic/tax reform, health care/public option and so much more are just mired in shit storms of delay and nothing actually changes unless it aligns with big money and what they support or desire to become even more rich.

Voting is a right but there should be responsibility. Having uninformed voters from the Obamaphone lady, to some rube in Alabama who thinks 2 plus 2 equals god is not beneficial especially on voting on things from taxation to social issues.

To me, the worst part of that whole thing wasn't that Romney was factually incorrect when he said that Obama did not call the embassy attacks an "act of terror" the next day. If his point had been that the Obama Administration is reluctant to deal with acts such as these as the acts of organized terrorist organizations, that would have been fine. I think it's a bullshit point, but it's at least a valid political opinion.
What Romney was really attempting to do, though, if you listen to the dogwhistle, is link that into this whole narrative that Obama is a timid coward who constantly thinks America is in the wrong and must apologize to the rest of the world. I think all the Muslim people killed in drone attacks since he's been President would find that thought amusing. As would Osama bin-Laden...if the Obama Administration hadn't fucking killed them.

Rough math but you get the point. The points you bring up have underlying themes to what and who Romney is and what he honestly believes or uses as a bs distraction for the rubes.
Going after Obama and Hilary for misinformation or being wrong in the face of many questions and WHERE he does a press conference? Yah, that's important and not a complete political play in the face of tragedy. I guess Obama is just soft on terrorism now right? What's the point of it all? To prove they got misinformed or made a bad correlation? Or are you saying the attacks are this admin's fault due to security concerns? I'm truly asking bc it's all over the place in the media and with Obama haters.

Obama does take blame in this as he was too busy campaigning rather to attend a lot of the intel briefings. I didnt say Obama was soft on terrorism. Im saying that this instance him and Hillary dropped the ball.

Romney missed his chance to KO Obama on Libya, However the damage is already done. We saw 2 weeks of Obama going to campaign in Vegas, Partying with Jay Z etc. Parading Susan Rice on the Sunday shows and Obama cutting an apology commercial to the Pakistanis and saying it was due to a youtube video.
If anyone saw the hearings last week, The evidence is damning to the administration.
the problem is, no damage was really done. All the damage to obama was cause of his awful first debate performance, and over the last week polls are actually turning back in obamas favor. The whole Libya thing doesnt seem to have much to do with what people think.
As an aside, it took me like 20 minutes after obama said it to realize they meant the rose garden at the white house. Being my fandom of basketball, I kept wondering when the fuck Obama gave a speech about libya in Portland

yea thats not the point. The point is that was one of the only specifics romney gave about how he would balance the budget.
The federal gov only funds between 10-12% of PBS budget. it comes out to around 440 million a year. NPR gets roughly half that.
In the terms of our debt, thats like someone who owes millions throwing a few nickels at the people and sayin that will help solve my debt problem. That money is NOTHING.
Not to mention that is one of the better things we spend money on. Those channels have alot of education that they pass to children that they otherwise might not get.
It is perfectly reasonable to hammer romney on the stupidity of that

you dont seem to understand that PBS couldnt continue to be what it is in a free market. It would be changed by private pressures. The fact that it is a public broadcasting company with federal funding allows it to run alot of stuff it wouldnt otherwise be able to. Things that are educational and good for the country, but probably dont pull in the ratings to get enough commercial revenue. With all the negative agenda networks and cable networks out there, you should be happy there is still a few that can do their thing without having to worry about making people happy.
I know the art shit was to spoon, and i never argue it as arts. I argue it as educational. But it is a worthwhile thing for us to spend on.

once again. You can actually look this up. Im going by independent business and economic analysis.
Allen, in describing how he would cut debt, said repeal of the health care act would "save $1 trillion over a 10-year period."
The three studies he cites from conservative analysts don’t put the debt reduction anywhere near $1 trillion -- the closest he gets is $701 million in a report commissioned by the House Republican leadership. And a report by the nonpartisan CBO says the repeal of Obamacare would increase debt by $109 billion over 10 years.
most of the independent stuff says it will cut it.

I was watchin the reports about the dude who feeds his cows candy cause corn has gotten too expensive, and it just makes me sad knowing we pay BILLIONS TO FARMERS TO NOT GROW CORN. I dont know why, I guess to try to control the market. But if their is such a shortage, i know cause the drought, maybe it would help to not STOP PEOPLE FROM GROWING SHIT WE MAY NEED

Right which is why its actually a good idea for obama to keep bringing up PBS. Cause romney didnt think to mention ANY of that. In fact, Romney wants to spend MORE on military. Thats why its laughable that he would even mention PBS
Im with you on the over the top military spending, Its too bloated as it is.
I think PBS subsidies cost taxpayers about $0.50 annually, however imagine what 500 Million per year could go to. It could go to improve and streamline the VA for example

again you are now arguing a point with me and spoon pretty much. The point of us thinkin they should fund PBS is a good point for debate. Im not automatically tellin you you are wrong. I dont agree, persay, but i can understand the argument.
But this kinda all came out of you goin after obama for still using big bird against romney, when its actually a very good thing to use cause it makes him look kinda stupid. Thats all i was sayin.
Now on a personal aside, yea half a billion is a good amount of money to get to add to a program. But you are missing the point. Mitt doesnt wanna take that money and use it for something else. He wants to not use it. thats what makes it so dumb of a point to make.
And also, if you cut and fixed the more important things, you could easily have a surplus of money while still funding PBS and NPR. Its not a big issue. thats why its silly. Its just something to dsitract people from realizing that he has no plan

i wouldnt call that a waste because that could end up saving us down the line. But if you are gonna use that much for it, at least let other people grow more for the people who want to eat it or use it as feed, so the price doesnt go through the roof.
Or, lets be really smart, and ALLOW FARMERS TO GROW FUCKIN HEMP. WHich is a great source of MANY things, including fuel. And would save us and make us TONS of money

i read something today, and i cant say if i was on a completely neutral site or whatever. But i read about how when Romney was gov on Mass, he vetoed 800 bills, 750 of which were overridden by getting enough votes in the house and senate to force the shit through even though he vetoed it. Then he turned around in the POTUS campaign and bragged about how well alot of those things worked, as if he did something to help get them in.
I really am starting to think Romney actually has NO IDEA what he would do or he is talkin about and just wants to win so he can say he finally did something his daddy couldnt do.
How can you be so dumb or wrong or short sighted that 750 of the 800 bills you vetoed ended up gettin passed anyway cause they were good enough that both sides knew they had to be done. It feels like Mass succeeded under him inspite of him, not because of him
It's more like 800 vetoes.
Romney As Governor: 800 Vetoes And One Big Deal (http://www.npr.org/2012/06/13/154583216/romney-as-governor-confrontation-one-big-deal)

Jon Stewart asked him if the handling of that was optimal, so he was kinda just using Jon Stewarts words to say no, of course not. In a transcript it looks really bad, but if you watch the actual interview, the tone of it sorta fits. I think thats why its not being made a bigger deal of.

In instances like the binders issue, I think if the moderator hears that term and picks up on it immediately, they can ask a follow up with something like what do you mean by binders full of women, then the reply can be let me elaborate what I meant was, having binders with resumes of women who were qualified
Another example could be if a candidate criticizes his opponent for some line item on the budget being 10 billion over budget when he meant to say 10 million. The moderator can correct him and it wouldnt be a 5 day news event.

yet like the tax rundown, Mitt didn't show anything he'd do or has done in terms of policy or something of impact on this issue. he simply didn't answer the question and licked his own ass for hiring women on his cabinet. I get it, you REALLY think it's Rivers to blame in SD, not Turner and I still think that's IDIOTIC. Very few QBs and teams win Championships and no I've never put him on that ELITE level in terms of winning or talent. He's a very good qb in a shit system with a shitty coach and awful management. Yet you want to point out any time, LOUDLY, he has a bad game, quarter or year as if that point in time could even prove one side of this argument or the other. It's called using a large sample and changing of factors to feel this out, and Norv has a HUGE sample that speaks to my argument, Rivers has a sample that the majority flies in the face of your argument, despite the barriers set upon him. Rivers worst year in the NFL was a .500 season and he's had very little to work with on the other side of the ball. You have nothing to back your argument outside of screaming any time he has a bad moment on the field and then commence attacking me when I call you out on it. I have YET to see where I'm making this about me and or attacking you like you repeatedly are here. Someone's dick hurt? Did I poke fun too much on something that made you cry? No Snoogans is right, if your stance is solid and you truly back them, keep it accurate and not emotional. The information alone will carry the weight, not some attacks that are clearly in there. Just report the true stance, not fill it with hyperbole and snide remarks bordering on attacks.
And we talk of how naive Obama truly was in his actual desire to change things...let's be honest, GJ's policies at times are very solid in theory, but NO WAY IN HELL would he even get them through or even close so it's a pipe dream scenario overall. You have to chip away, not just dump things. The patriot act category alone would have been solid if not for some of the other bullshit like saying "NO WAY!" on bailouts in the face of a possible oncoming depression. Sorry, reduce spending 43% for the gov overall and only 43% in the military just isn't going to happen. Not now, not ever.

I have to say, it's fucking hilarious how big and tough you are here, and please by all means continue to go that route. I take good notes.

well it revolves around having a much smaller government and privatizing alot of things we already pay for. And I agree it would take a while for him to get much done, however when he was gov of New Mexico he was a republican. so he does still have a bit of pull with them, although not much.
Dont sleep on his ability to make some noise though, cause he is picking up alot of support from the Ron Paul heads. Also, though no one mentions him, I am a big fan of GJs running mate, Judge Jim Gray. He seems to know how things work pretty well in terms of life and the justice system

There are still millions of people that still are going to vote for the mainstream candidate and are reluctant for real change.
I know Military spending wont go down that much if he was ever to get elected, However in a perfect world if he was elected and it could be reduced by 15-20% we would still have a military with immense weapons and firepower.
For the patriot act, that could be chipped away over a period of time. I know there are programs that cant be eliminated overnight just as hundreds of thousands of troops cant be withdrawn tomorrow. I was in the military and my battalion was about 1000 men. It took months of planning for deployments and withdraws
If the federal reserve was scaled back and eventually eliminated and there was a central bank that wasnt controlled by private banks and families, maybe there would be an alternative to bailouts.

Trust me, I'd LOVE a third party option, lack of parties or even more than three. It's not that I don't like all his policies, I see eye to eye with him more than more politicians on both aisles, but if you truly want to make a dent in this system you need to be realistic. I fear most only go to the third party bc they can't get the nod of the big two. Some are different, but even Nader tried to get the GOP nod, even if he stayed true to most his beliefs.

at this point, im just hopin he gets enough Paul heads behind him to get a decent chunk, maybe like 7 8% vote. That will at least make enough noise to make the cause more relevant. In a way, the GOP was sort of a 3rd party when the Whigs dissolved. I know that was 150 years ago but who knows it could happen again. Eventually the electorate is going to have enough of the major parties and influence by money and special interests
The reform party did have a chance but I remember hearing about infighting within the party so they lost a lot of ground

also, i think some of the moderates on both sides are becoming disgusted by how far apart the sides have gotten and all the BS fighting. i guess, but all you need is one rich dude who fits GJ or some other third parties ideals to get behind them.
