thanks goodness i wont have to do it. thats for the nurse to do. before someone gets tested, they have a pre-screening interview. its a capacity to consent test. it also checks to see if you are mentally and socially stable to handle the situation if you DO come out positive. it sets up a support network beforehand and help the client map out possible partners to notify just in case.

I had a lovely 23 year old lady (2 years older than I) come to our clinic in the military. We did her well woman's and it was time to also draw HIV, Hep panels, etc so we did. I had to call her back and make an immediate appointment for her a week later. When she saw my face she knew something was up. She and her boyfriend had been dating for nearly a year(if I remember correctly) and he was military too. In the Army we had to be tested every 2 years for the infantry, etc. and for us in the medical field it was every year. Well, this guy was a truck driver and was nearing his test date.

Well, the doc came into the room and I was sitting next to this young lady when he told her she was HIV positive. I had to catch her as she was sitting on the side of the exam table and fell forward. She broke out into a sweat, tears, just a sad scene.

We had to call in her boyfriend (and re test her for type, etc.) and test him. He was positive, we told him, and then he admits that while he was with his girlfriend who he loved, he was also sleeping with hookers up in Mannheim.

She finds out, goes ape shit, and comes back to us (this time in the ER) when I was on duty, having a freaking nervous breakdown (fancy term is anxiety attack).

This poor lady with her future ahead of her, everything crashed because of a boyfriend that wanted to sleep with hookers. Ug, some people just need not be born.

sorry im really tired and still cant sleep,i got a coupla hours away and hit ice,i was only doin about 40,i slid across a 2 lane road(no traffic at 3AM)and caught my right front fender in a snow bank and my rear end hit a sign sayin curve.it was about 0 degrees and after about 20 mins of tryin to get my car out a truck pulled over and this cool old drunk guy pulled me out.i drove about 2 miles and my car had a shimmy,thought i may have bent an axel so i drove back(real slowly)to a friends house that is a mechanic.he looked at it and said its just out of line,left my car in his garage and hes going to fix when he gets home from work.this has been a really wierd 2 days for me,i havent slept and every time i think im going to nap something comes up.i think somethings tryin to tell me somethin but my minds alittle cloudy.the sun is finally shining and im kinda wakin up,sorry for the post and run but i thought it was earlier than what it was

No big deal, but when you are deployed it is a bit of a big deal because of the ways you have to clean yourself. No running water, showers, etc. makes for some improvising techniques so you do not have crotch rot and cranky ass.

nah, i have a decent set up. i could just put a sheet over my windows but that seems like a lot of work. id rather just work at night. my real office has a much nicer set up..at my place im doing it ghetto-y

Uhhhm, yeah I opened the flue before lighting it. Basically, cold air was forcing itself in and taking the smoke with it. I didn't think that could happen, unless there's something else involved... I dunno. It sucked. I put a bucket of water outside and Jason grabbed the big tongs and carried half a flaming log through the house.

I had an incident when I was an auPair... I never had a fireplace but the parents were out and we decided to watch movies and make a fire... I didn't know about the flue thingy...
The smoke traveled all through the house and the fire alarms went off which were attached to the big ones that let sirens go off outside...
the police called and all... it was crazy... lol
