i didnt post much yesterday because we had a massive audit by the city. i did well, but that cant be said for all...

right at the beginning of the audit, i pulled my back reaching for a phone :huh: it just locked up. i was totally immobilized. the nurse set me up with some heat patches and i still had the left over pain meds in my bag. i then handled the rest of their questions from a chair and had them bring the charts to me :king:

im hoping this sudden spasm (or whatever it was) isnt related to the car accident. it seems a little far for it to be related. im also really annoyed because im dying to be active again and i cant be because of my stupid back (both because of the insurance thing and for actual pain sometimes). i feel like jabba the hut from sitting around and gaining weight. :glurps: im just not used to being so fat.

This is likely due to you not working out as much as you use to. No I am not saying you are fat, but you had previously mentioned that you are not working out as much and you had gained some weight. You are not stretching and pushing those muscles so as they "-de-condition" the muscles are more prone to little injuries like this.

Heat for 3 days, tylenol or Motrin (if you do not have stomach issues) for pn and anti-inflammatory purposes, and stretch lightly.

Stretching is very therapeutic and will help to prevent this sort of injury. If you can, stretch in the morning after you wake up and again when you get home. While at your desk you can also do a few stretches. As your back gets better and if the strain is in or near your lower back you need to strengthen your abs since your abs provide half the support for balancing your upper body. If it is upper back then it is more related to the use of your arms. You are young, healthy and will bounce back quickly.
