It's a high that subsides to quickly and often leaves nothing behind. I rather go about it differently these days... learn to love... not head over heals and end up with a concussion

She and I had our first crush 20 years ago in high school. 3 weeks ago we went out for lunch then went for a good 2 hr walk in the park talking and we both reconnected at that time. A week and a half ago we made it "official" by talking about wanting to be with each other. It has been amazing since. If you work at it and find the right person the lovey dovey thing does not wear off, but at times it can diminish which in my opinion can be rekindled.

Have some jaded. Eesh. The best thing is when the newness starts something wonderful. Sometimes it never quits, and that's the best thing ever.

Between 60 -72 hours after your last cigarette the brain looses cravings for nicotine, yet the habit (learned behavior) of wanting to smoke is still there and things like chewing gum help us break that. Spy, you are most likely experiencing anxiety which a lot do after quitting.

its been great here lately, clear and cold and maybe only an inch of snow a day for the last 4 or 5 days, the sun love the sun, missed it for two months

Yeah, some of them can be a little too religious. But it depends on the group. Some become very cult like, your whole life revolves around doing stuff with the group (trips, etc). That's when Mike stopped going, when the group started to turn that way. He got what he needed out of it, it's a great organization but it's not for everyone. Didn't help my dad at all, he used to go out drinking after the meetings:wallbash: with Brian Dennehy's brother and a few other Vets.

It is a good organization and does give one strength through knowing others exist like you.

We vets are a little silly like that ;).

Holy shit Foster, is your mom okay? What type of surgery? I'll send good karma her way.

thanks, good karma always comes in handy!

she has to have to cyst removed that has had her in and out of the hospital for months.
it shouldn't be a big deal, but she is on blood thinners and the doctor is worried that she might bleed out.
she's scared, so I'm nervous.

hi everyone,

just got home, my mom's surgery has been postponed until Saturday, due to her Coumadin (blood thinner) level being too high.
I look at this as very good news since her being on blood thinners is what made her going through this procedure dangerous.
other then being uncomfortable, from the sensitive location of the cyst, she is doing fine, and is also relieved the doctor is waiting for the Coumadin level to drop.

thank you all for the thoughts and prayers you sent my mom's way and the support you provided me. it truelly helped.

Good to hear they are looking out for your mom. Coumadin and anything can be scary either because of the risk of prolonged bleeding or because so many meds do not interact well with Coumadin.

I am surprised they did not recommend her reducing the blood thinners leading up to a surgery, especially with her being in and out of the hospital for this.
But at least they did the right thing by sending her back home.

I am surprised they did not recommend her reducing the blood thinners leading up to a surgery, especially with her being in and out of the hospital for this.
But at least they did the right thing by sending her back home.

when she originally went into the hospital for this they were treating her with antibiotics, can't remember the name, after a few weeks the lump or cyst went away.

a month later it returned, so they did the same treatment, with stronger doses, the drug they were giving her had a side effect which caused her to develop a couple of bloodclots, one in lung which almost killed her. Thats why the put her on the blood thinners, to prevent clots.

now once the again the lump returns; she went to the doctor yesterday, and he want to remove it. I don't know why he wanted it to do today, instead of taking her off the blood thinners for a few days first, which is where all the risk was coming from. my mom is uncomfortable, but she isn't, nor was she at death's door from this thing.

I think she might have pushed the doctor to rushing things along, she doesn't handle pain to well. she also worked for doctors for years and knows how to push their buttons to get what she thinks is best, even if it isn't the best course of action.

Remember Bill From Cleveland? Or Smoking Lucky's? Cozzie? Concert Pig? They have their own board these days, and they haaaaaaaaaaaaaate me. So I was on Fred From Brooklyn's site the first night he was doing his show, and Fred supposedly allowed them access to the IP numbers of those in the room. So far, there hasn't been a lot of fallout from it. They've obviously signed me up to a bunch of dumb sites, as my daily spam went from 1 or 2 to a couple of dozen. But I do have some screen caps saved if they do more dumb things.

And when it comes to Chris, what bothers me is that he expects everybody to treat him with respect, but yet any minor thing anybody writes he responds with insults and name-calling.

What? I haven't heard this story.

The details are cloudy for me. JustJon could give a better synopsis, but OA.com had all kinds of internal issues as I understand it. The last straw for at least some of the members was that, in 2002, OA.com was running a t-shirt hell banner ad with the I "plane" NY design. This caused all kinds of dissension that lead to, I think, the tech admin making changes that fucked over the owner of the site before quitting. There's a lot more to it than that, but I just know that T-shirt hell was the at least a part of the final straw.

being color-blind, I have no idea what this design says, but I assume it's something derogatory about colorblind people.

This caused all kinds of dissension that lead to, I think, the tech admin making changes that fucked over the owner of the site before quitting. There's a lot more to it than that, but I just know that T-shirt hell was the at least a part of the final straw.

being color-blind, I have no idea what this design says, but I assume it's something derogatory about colorblind people.

http://www.tshirthell.com/shirts/products/a559/a559_bm.gifIt says "fuck the colorblind". I didn't know about what went down with OA.com, I was only on Wackbag at the time, and I wasn't into posting really. I can understand people being upset about a shirt that says I plane NY if you were effected by it. But isn't (or at least back then) being an O&A fan means that you put on your big girl panties and suck it up?

The details are cloudy for me. JustJon could give a better synopsis, but OA.com had all kinds of internal issues as I understand it. The last straw for at least some of the members was that, in 2002, OA.com was running a t-shirt hell banner ad with the I "plane" NY design. This caused all kinds of dissension that lead to, I think, the tech admin making changes that fucked over the owner of the site before quitting. can I just say that people are assholes when it comes to parking... there wasn't even snow on the ground anymore and they wasted at least 20 good parking spots by parking across the lines and taking up 2 spaces... what is going through someones head when they park and there is a huge gap between him and the next car but not enough space for another car to park???

I have seen this often, regardless if there is snow out or if it's July and 90 degrees. I think people do it thinking that their car won't get dinged by an opening car door that way. But in reality it just pisses people off more and some of us ( *cough* me *cough*) have to fight an incredible urge to key the offending car.

wow, as far as I know AT&T had dynamic IP's so they should change every time I sign on... but I am not sure
I am gonna check that out on my mommy board

(just did a quick check and it seems to be different IP's on different days when posting from home. My work IP is the same..)

With dynamic IPs it is nearly impossible to track who you are due to privacy laws and who owns that IP range, unless you hack the ISP. Static or websites are a lot easier because then you either lease the IP or you own the website. You could do a Whois on my site and find out my info.

Hearing loss is not the end of the world. It will be different, but she will adapt. My mom had hearing problems, they learn to lip read to compensate. And being rid of the vertigo will really improve her quality of life. Vertigo is fucking hell.

They are in their early 70's. Mike's dad had 2 bad heart attacks when he was in his 50's, so this is all a combination of age and just dealing with the long term effects of what happened. His mom is pretty healthy, except for the diverticulitis. His maternal grandmother is still alive, in her 90's, so he has longevity on that side. I thought my parents were invisible until they got sick. I don't know if it's this way for everyone, but with my parents it was all pretty sudden.
