nice. there was one team full of d-bags that we would always get into it with everytime we played, but they dropped out of the league this year, so we are pretty much incident free so far this season.

yah trust me, it's when we face those type teams shit hits the fan
in the leauge with the team I run/captain, i only have 2 PIMs in 9 games, and that was just a high stick on a sweeping attempt to knock a pass out of the air that found a players stick and rode up into the side of his head inadvertently. stopped the pass too, but went to the box and felt shame.
on the team I help a buddy out with, things often get ugly bc they are HORRIBLE overall
some teams lay off, while other assholes look at it as a time to run the score and pad their bs stats as if they mean something other than the win for the team
being one of the only guys that can play and dealing with slappers down 8-1 from the point bc our wings are God awful tempers get tested
I've amassed my fair share of PIMs there, and get away with a LOT bc I know most of the refs now and they see the bullshit too

It'd be nice if the Devil's could keep a 3 goal lead. Yeah, they won the game but they can't give up points to teams they are so close to in the standings.

I can't believe they never got their goalie of the future while Marty was still there to mentor and help out. No chance now unless they make a huge more for Bernier or something out of LA bc a kid would never be ready in time. To me, this is a HUGE mistake on the mentor side alone, much less the stability in net long term/in the future. Colorado didn't do it either, and wow have they suffered for it.

Oddly enough, Avs won a franchise record 8 in a row at home now...mostly bc JSG is on fire again and HAS to be the #1 in net at this point. An amazing comeback from his injury bc he looks like his Stanley Cup form right now.

Even if those stats were true, it would be sad bc despite it all they're behind 2 teams in their own division...one being the Blues! WTF ?!
And for the record, Howard is 5th in GAA...2 slots behind JSG's hot gt hands!

Not even as OC? Or if you meant Luck why the heck not? An early QB has been needed for far too long.
Cats win again, down about 7 forwards the rookie I like scored a goal filling in.

It wasn't an authentic jersey. It came in a set with a plastic helmet and a puck or something. I just remember coming home from school, throwing it on, and skating arund my street and shooting pucks at an empty net. Good stuff.

Yah, that color was big bc the whites were tough to keep and it was indeed all over. As for the home whites, couldn't agree more as the colors from the road would differ nicely while homes stay the same no matter what. It's just stupid, but they probably did it so the thirds wouldn't be much an issue when home teams decided to use them. The NHL doesn't make many good calls though we know this.

After the Avs won a Stanley Cup game in 2001 at Continental, all six Devil fans there tried to start shit with me but I just caught a hot dog one tossed at me laughed and ate it. They were just taken off their game and moved on to the next guy with Avs shit on and guess what, they got their fight. Since we're on the subject of fan-on-fan violence:
http://www.thepensblog.com/tpb/jan2012/fan-at-consol-becoming-unglued.html
There are a lot of problems with this story and parts of it I don't believe.
The biggest issue I have with the story is that the husband and pregnant woman actually are the ones elevating the fight
The second issue, from a logistical side, is the fact that this incident happened after the game was over, but a beer was thrown. Only problem with that is, beer sales at the Consol Center are cut off before the third period starts. Which means a beer was just sitting there for over 40+ minutes of "real time"?

Do they sell cans there? Maybe they pulled a shark and snuck them in.
I've seen cans sold, but a majority of the time, they're opened and then poured into cups. If they were snuck it, how much did they sneak in to still have one at the end of the game? It's easy to sneak in a flask of hard stuff. Beer, not so much.
I also questioned the person who wrote in about the fight... no one has corroborated the story in public yet, he's changed his story a few times, and still doesn't recognize the problem that the pregnant woman and husband elevated the fight. He got really pissy when I asked him about Consol's beer sales.
In a stadium of 18,000 people, no one else saw this happen?

Twas a great save. Really tight game. Shootout went long too. But the Rangers have now won their fifth in a row.

I've seen all out BRAWLS at yankee stadium, a guy punch an opposing fans wife in Texas and beer tossed at people wearing any jersey other than the home team in both Flyers and Ranger games. Assholes are EVERYWHERE, and thanks for making me agree with one of the biggest!
:smoke:
Thank you. Its amazing to me there are still people out there that just dont get it. Snacks you havent figured it out yet? The media loves finding an incident in Philly and blowing it up. Ever since that fucking jackass Howard Cosell cried about people throwing snowballs at a drunk fan dressed as Santa Claus, any time something new happens, they just pile it on.
Didnt a SF fan get paralyzed at a Dodgers game this year? You barely heard about it. Could you fucking imagine if that had happened here??? The thing is, most Philly fans dont care about the bad rap. We get it. We play our role. We love the fact that every time ESPN does some kind of "toughest place to play an away game" list Philly is always #1 on the list. Because those of us here know what the real deal is.
Very rarely will you run across a group of guys that will just beat up a random opposing sports fan. Usually they just boo or break balls like "thats child abuse!" if they see a kid in another teams jersey and such. Ive been to games in NY, Boston, Miami and its pretty much the same there too. All you gotta do is laugh it off and enjoy the game. Most of these guys you see get beat up jump up and talk shit and taunt these people. Thats just dumb. If it wasnt a sporting event, 2 guys taunting and talking shit to 10 would still be dumb. And for the record, the court was put at the Vet because of a Monday night game where besides the normal fights someone shot a flare gun across the stadium. And it ended when the Vet came down.
But you dont have to listen to me or spoon or Tenbats, just go to Youtube, type in "(any team name) fans beats up" and youll see plenty of vids of other fans doing the same bullshit.

Yes, they were. There was tons of comments about how:
1) McCourt was an asshole for not providing light and security in the parking lots because there's been issues out there for years.
2) Dodgers Stadium having legitimate gang issues in the parking lot (see point 1)
3) The general attitude that Dodgers fans have towards Giants fans.

Ryan McDonagh got boarded today by Ferrence. He'll definitely be meeting with Shannahan on that one. McDonagh was down for a while and didn't return to the game, which led to a game-winning PPG.
Rangers aren't talking what the injury is... he is traveling with the team, so hopefully it isn't too serious, but it could be anything from a concussion to a separate shoulder to broken ribs.

i just saw the replay, very dangerous play. who knows if he'll get a shannaban on that one though. there was a clear boarding call on nathan gerbe earlier in the season which caused him to miss 15-20 games that didn't even get a call from shanny. i think it should be a suspension though. shit like that needs to be out of the NHL.

They weren't too bad and to be honest Theodore kept you in it though. He played quite well, obviously driven to beat a team that finally let him walk. To me though, you're not quite there as a sure playoff team, just like Colorado. 6-10 type team, maybe better or worse if you have a run of good or bad.

I didn't see this one yet, but yah Shanny is a biased uneven guy in the NHL office right now. There is no rhyme or reason why one isn't looked at and another garners 5 game suspension outside of loyalties and players involved to me.
As for the board, some are incidental bc the player turns into the boards last second, and players are doing so MUCH more often seemingly to even draw a call bc of how the league looks at it now. I've seen plenty do this and clearly set up by protecting themselves into the hit and lay down for a while clearly to be fine and play their next shift. Point being, some are dirty, some happen in the heat of the game and others surely are dirty on the receiving end now (dives which is newer/more often now in my mind).

I usually like Jack Edwards, but the local Bruins broadcast was doing everything to try and condone what happened, while Joe Micheletti for the Rangers just went on an absolute tirade on Ference for about 3 minutes. It was awesome.

I just watched it again. It was in OT so there were four players + Hank on the ice. McDonagh goes down, that takes it to three, Hagelin and Dubinsky IMMEDIATELY get into Mcquaid and Ference's faces, and Stralman basically corrals off the other Bruins player. Look at Dubi's face, he's fucking pissed and screaming at Ference.
The other thing is the officials stepped in RIGHT AWAY as soon as shit started going down. The whistle was blown right away.
I think the Rangers did the smart thing. If a brawl broke out, there was a chance the Rangers might lose the PP.

Yah, protect/stand up for your guy but I have to agree that this wasn't some clear boarding in any way. We have plays like this in almost every game we play on an adult hockey level, you can't just turn and shield the puck with your body when going into the corner with another guy fast like that. Ference was coming hard and the hit was mainly in from the side as McDonagh clearly tried to slow him up/shield him from the puck and turned away from the contact and toward the boards. I say no fine/suspension here and don't think it's even close to what Tenbat's described.

no way
the refs always jump in on shit like this so that has no baring and you could easily still defend your guy better
also, this game goes way beyond the one extra point handed out on the night. it's a game bt two of the clear top teams in the EC and Boston likes to set up their physical dominance against other teams in the race. they lost the point but did in fact make their statement yet again. one can argue they helped send buf on their free fall with that Miller hit/setback.
even though I don't think it was a vicious board, you have to defend your guy in a big way...especially in these type games

There were two Americans on the B's last year, the other one attended.
Tim Thomas, one of two American players on last year’s roster, chose not to attend the ceremony. During his six-minute speech in the East Room, Obama mentioned Thomas for his performance in the Stanley Cup Final and how he was only the second American to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as postseason MVP.
Chiarelli said the event was not mandatory. Ex-Bruins Tomas Kaberle, Mark Recchi, and Shane Hnidy were in attendance, as was Steven Kampfer, the other American from last year’s roster.

I was flipping through Channels and saw this pawn stars ripoff called Hardcore Pawn.
Apparently Darren McCarty has fallen so far since his hockey days that he is working in a fucking pawn shop in Det.
That's pretty fucking sad.
I know he never got paid superstar money, but i would think he still got paid good money.
edit: He made 10mil over his career..
To be working in a pawn shop must suck..

Yah I agree. It's gotten too stupid and the same guys shouldn't get 3 shots, more should get 2 and the goalies were annoying too.

I doubt he will, but I'd love if Nabokov would resign with the Isles. He was great tonight. Stole the game. He's been fantastic for this team. I don't think they make the playoffs, but they have a fighting chance with him in net. Only 9 points out. It's possible. Winnable games ahead.

Not at all. I'm kind of glad they gave him a penalty too. You can't run the goalies like that. He wasn't pushed into Brodeur and didn't make a real attempt to stop.
The thing is I think they had a chance to score even without the interference.

really remind me of the Broad Street Philly teams and that might be a force even more so these years come playoff time again. I like the strategy and they won't be an easy team to play at any time.

Never saw that before. Flyers' Sestito gets a penalty and game misconduct, and Briere sits in the box. Rangers score PPG, and as Briere leaves the box, says something to the ref, and HE gets a 10 minute misconduct.

I'm sure he'd eat it too, after he was finished. How he's still in the league is a joke and makes everything the Wings have done with him worthless.
