Compared to the Avs deal this one is a year longer, a year later and comes after Andy's recent issues so I'm a little confused. It may play out well in the end, who knows, but I can't imagine the Sens couldn't have lined up less years and less money at this point. He's coming off an obvious lack of effort in Colorado despite being on a team under contract. Say what you want, but that doesn't bode well for the future in Ottawa if ANYTHING goes wrong. He obviously didn't give two fucks and didn't give much effort this year until shipped. Colorado was the first team to give him a good contract and the chance to start, at least play it out regardless of front office issues. You simply aren't a team guy when you tank it like he surely did.

Yah 100% clean and if anything, Eberle's fault for reaching like that in the corner. He put himself in a shitty position in a tough spot and Torres clearly kept his elbow down. I agree with this. Versus has gotten better with their coverage and I find their coverage of hockey to be pretty solid.

I watch Around the Horn and PTI. I'll sometimes catch the Sunday night baseball game and usually watch more when the NFL is in full swing.

Here's the thing. Casual hockey fans don't care about the regular season anyway outside of a game here or there and the Winter Classic. They're not going to all of a sudden start watching every game if it's on ESPN. Hardcore fans will either buy the Centre Ice package from their cable provider, and they'll watch Versus or an online stream in addition to watching games on the NHL Network. That's already light years ahead of what the NFL (who, to my knowledge, doesn't stream any games online, and makes it so you have to switch cable providers in order to access out of market games, both situations that are much, much worse than the NHL having a deal with NBC/Comcast), and MLB, who has an army of people that scour the internet everyday looking for people who post clips and sending out cease and desists.

The league just can't walk away from a deal that almost TRIPLES their yearly TV money, and they would be crazy if they did.

To my knowledge, the standard roster rules in place during the season no longer apply. You can call up as many people as you wish. For example, the Flyers have three goalies on the roster (Leighton, Bobrovsky, and Boucher) and they didn't call up Leighton until a few games ago.

I forgot how much I loved playoff hockey. The past two years with the Devils folding took some of the enjoyment out, but just watching the games for the pure fun of the sport is great.

So much praise to go around. Vinny and MSL have been so strong, Roli has been very good to ridiculous, and the Bergenheim-Moore-Downie line has been unbelievable. Brewer and Hedman have been terrific. It's great to see the big Swede pulling all of his raw talent together at the perfect time.

It will be good to get some rest, especially to get Kubi and Gagne a chance to try and get healthy. At the same time I really don't want to give a team with this much heat too much time to sit back.

Thomas stole one from Downie and that could have really changed the game.
