We went to the local arboretum yesterday and I discovered my camera's battery will no longer hold a charge, and the place didn't sell batteries. So we are going to have to go back ASAP so I can take pictures before all the leaves have turned and dropped.
And we also just got back from driving an hour to visit someone that was not home. We will try again tomorrow. Family members with possible dementia can be a tricky lot.

Just the battery pack. I'm actually just going to pop two of my rechargeable double AA's into it until I get around to picking up a Kodak rechargeable to replace it. No big deal, just irksome. The weather was so nice yesterday and they had the Dalia show going. The lady in the gift shop commented that a lot of people ask them if they sell batteries. I really wanted to say "well why don't you sell them then?" but did not want to come across as snarky. But seriously, they would make a fucking killing. It's not like they would have to stock much, just a few sets of AA's and maybe some AAA's. Charge double for them. I know they do that at the renfair.

Sorry to hear about the eye thing. What is the problem exactly?

About two months ago I thought I got a wood chip in my eye past my safety glasses while chainsawing. I flushed my eye out and had no relief. I had dx'd myself with a corneal abrasion but 3 weeks ago I finally go to the eye doctor because my vision was still screwy and still felt like a foreign body in my eye. Turns out I had zoster on my cornea, yes the same virus related to herpes that also causes chicken pox and shingles. I had this in my eye twice before but discounted it because it had been forever since an out break. Now I pay the price. The infection has cleared, the scaring is healing, but the cloudiness still prevails. So for the past 3 weeks I have seen 3 different eye specialists, pills, 2 types of drops, and loads of fun.

My biggest problem is w/ the soybeans. I raise beans that will be next years seed for Pioneer Hybrids. They need to be of good quality and its hard for them to dry in the field this time of year, so that could be a problem. The corn is standing fine and not dropping ears on the ground where they would be unharvestable. Time is not on my side for post harvest tillage.

We are doing good. We lost power for a few hours over the weekend. Someone around the block from us had a branch take out a power line. So we scrounged up every candle we owned and played Monopoly. He kicked my ass, I had to declare bankruptcy lol.

The eye is healing, still a lil haziness but my vision is returning. And I am doing well, tad cold as it is 59 right now and 69 inside so I am posting from a blanket. Other than that wanting to go back to work already, I need money.

I had read research before touting the active component of LSD could be beneficial for certain psych problems, but I am glad to see it get more press.

As for THC, there are many components that have medical benefit and we are just beginning too tap into the molecule. I did some pain research using dronabinol (medication for nausea) but got mixed results likely from to small of a population but we were limited in funding, etc.

England has really been on the forefront of THC research with Canada coming in second. Here in the we just need to get religion out of the political spectrum and nuke Walmarts in parts of the midwest and south to rid the ignorant.

Interesting! Were you in an area that did not have power or did you family choose to live off the grid? I find it fascinating. I think we actually have a law around our parts that requires you to maintain electricity.

We have that same law but it only applies to residential. Up at my place I have a generator and fans.

Mine runs on gas and I only run it at certain times while up there. I need to get the powerline repaired and pay my bill.

I'd love to go solar but price is out of the question currently. Wind up there would not be nearly as productive due to trees and other natural barriers.

Ok, as you know the 70's were a differnt time.the high desert of california. Got to build the basement by hand. That does include mixing all the to mortar and fill the cinder block walls by the 1/2 full 5gall bucket....cutting all the rebar w/ a hacksaw.The windmill didn't produce as promised. Gave up after the second inverter...

We would of had electricity, had the trench dug but the foreman insisted that we could not run electric in the same trench....that was a long ass trench,went up oneside of 5 acres and down another 7 acres....one shovel at a time no less than 4 foot deep....

Hot water was heated stove top,and during the sumers we'd bathe in the 2x12 horse trough next to the water tank.....well water is freakn cold.....

I still don't get how the state can require you have electricty or cps can take your kids today......our grand parents and asuredly, our great grandparents did not have electricity.....but I digress...
