For my first year of school I went to SUNY Plattsburgh. After that, I transferred to NYIT. I was supposed to be given 27 credits but they only gave me 21, something I'm not fighting for because I've tried for 3 years.

So during my time at school, the chairperson of my major changed. And when it got changed, so did the curriculum. Instead of 120 credits, its now something like 131. It didn't affect people who were a junior because they were already halfway done. Well apparently, since I was sort on credits, I was considered a sophomore at the time of the transfer, so my whole curriculum changed without me knowing. The excuse is "well you should go to student services" but if they don't say anything in the first place, I assume nothing is wrong. Now I'm short on credits and can't graduate in May. So after May, I have to have one more semester of school with just 13 credits of ELECTIVES. My core stuff will be all said and done.

My plan once I found that out, was to take winter and summer courses, to graduate in August. But get this, its a lot cheaper to be considered a full time student (12 - 18 credits) in the fall than it would be to take the courses over the winter and summer and be considered part time. "But why can't you take those classes somewhere else and transfer them?" Get this, they don't take classes from outside the school unless they were initially transferred over in the first place.

All this time, you go to Financial Aid, who tells you to go to Bursar, who tells you to go to Registrar, who tells you to go to a Graduation Audit, around and around, getting the loop. Nothing is consistent, and my financial aid packet changes all the time and that becomes an issue.

The only good thing about staying there another semester is that I can get my job back that I have now. So yeah, all I wanna do is graduate and get a job. I'm sick of finals, papers, professors, evaluations, schedules, etc. It just sucks. I hate school.

Even if you show them the proof, they are real dismissive about it. They dismissed 12 transfer credit which were perfectly good. That's an extra fucking semester. I showed them the proof that I took these classes and they are perfectly good for my major and they said "that's not enough proof". A letter from said professors and a syllabi. Lazy jerks.

Then the SUNY system would not accept my Chemistry and Microbiology from the private school, so I had to those classes over too. Sure, I did real well, but it's the principle of the matter. My advice? Write letters of complaint to the administration, even if it doesn't resolve anything for you maybe your effort will change their practices and help someone else in your situation down the line. And when the schools come begging for money when you are an alumni, write a note telling the school exactly why you are displeased with their practices and send that instead of a check.

Even if you show them the proof, they are real dismissive about it. They dismissed 12 transfer credit which were perfectly good. That's an extra fucking semester.
