I think you are getting that a bit wrong.
The board that is being created is a board that already exists of sorts. some people did not come to RF entirely or at all and went to Struff's board. It just happens to be where most people from FBA hang right now.

I have been here before fba died and just felt it was a good place for me to stay. posting here is different from FBA, yet it's a fun place to be and I feel home.

The current liferaft known as struff.com is all FBA people that have gathered. over 135 of us. We are close to returning to VBulletin so the old style board can come back.

We do not want to "compete" with any board and in fact, being 1/4 owner of the new site, we decided to put links to all other O&A and R&F boards. No reason we can't be one big community and use many boards. I happen to be a member of RF.net, STI, RGF & FBA. And, I enjoy them all.

As to Gaz, I like you, but your issues with Struff have no bearing on the new FBA. Struff is 1/4 owner along with me and 2 others. We don't want to edit like Wackbag did and we will allow plenty of disagreements. What we don't want is threads like the infamous "raccoon" thread that was very vicious and embarassing.

You can disagree and dislike without bashing.

I understand you and Struff had disagreements, and I respect that, but I work well with him and the other 2 owners. We all agree on the pros and cons of the old FBA and just want to make it better.

We welcome all people to visit. We want to be a slice of the bigger community, not the center of it. Even you, Gaz, are welcome.

The main reason to go back with the same name is because FBA was just as much about the members and friends we made as it was anything else. I like you, Gaz, and I see your point. But I think we had a good group of friends there and hated to see it end.

I resisted putting iSpy on the site when it first came out because I was afraid it would be draining on the server. We can always try it on RF.Net and see what happens. If anyone has any other features they'd like to see on the site, let us know. Worst case, we say no.

FBA is dead. If it gets resurrected with a new server and owner, we all know the original FBA is never coming back.

(Let me say that this post isn’t going to bash any other board, but talk about FBA as it’s own entity)

FBA was once a great place. It was the alternative to many sites. It provided a place to talk about things other then the show and actually build up friendships. Threads like the three word, the postwhores unite, basic talking threads, and the listening thread parties. It originally started as a gathering of oddities, that turned into the oddities all meeting up outside of internet, and enjoying themselves. FBA was the home of the greatest drama threads of all time. The skittles vs. M&Ms? Hilarious. The Paltalk fighting and bullshit? Brilliant. How about the battles with Lame Cattle, Keyser Soze, and others? Just great. And how could we forget the best of all time, HilaryTheGreat. When the fake Hilary died, and was exposed, then the real one started posting? Instant classic. No matter how much people are scorned now, you can’t discount the amount of fun that was had on the site.

What made me really like FBA was the group mentality and accepting people. This was around the time when I sucked a man tit for an Inno on the show. My primary posting site, Cringehumor, scorned me and called me an asshole and a horrible person. But the reception I got from FBA was “Hey man that was funny. Good job.” It was a welcoming open feeling that many places didn’t have. But this was also the time when I learned the biggest Internet lesson. Never put all your eggs in one basket, or never put all your posts into one site. You never know when it’ll go away, or turn on you, or whatever. That’s why I’m the man of 1003 (one less) messageboards.

But when did it become unfun? When did people start leaving and not caring about a site that was once great? How did it go from being a good time to almost painful to read? Other then personal vendettas and beefs with certain people that others did, in my opinion, it had a lot to do with the actual reason we all came together in the first place, O&A and R&F. After Doug and Anthony had their blowouts time and time again, it became a place where it was uncool to like O&A. The mentality of a lot of people was “well I don’t know O&A, but I like this site, so I’m going to be rebellious!” That’s where a lot of phonies came in. Claiming to not like the show and support FBA in a fake war that in reality, no one cared about. But for me, I still love O&A, so I didn’t support the fight and stopped posting as much as I did. But I’m not saying that my support of O&A is what made me stop caring. It wasn’t so I look better for the show; it was because it wasn’t fun to post. You had to walk on eggshells and people had that “I’m better than you” attitude. After that, a lot of people started leaving and posting on other sites. But there were all kinds of little things that scorned the place. Like the crashes, the server updates, the good people being disdained, if-you-don’t-like-it-leave approach. What was once the most welcoming site to new members, eventually turned into a clique of idiots.

Now the question that people ask is, why do you care that FBA is gone even if you didn’t like it much? Well the reason is because there were still a handful of great posters and it was a medium for us to communicate. Sure, I can text/call/myspace/facebook/whatever with people, but why do that when I can go on a website and do it there? It’s a lot easier to log in, and post “hey hows your day going” to posters, then to individually call them up and ask. Who the fuck does that? Everyone went into the listening thread or appreciation thread and talked about their day, the show, whatever. It was the easiest way to communicate.

So now what? Well… everyone will move on, find a new place to post, and new people to talk to, and talk about behind their backs. But overall, FBA was a great ride that I really did enjoy overall. I want to thank Doug, Inky, and Patking for bringing an alternative to the fans. The original guys like BAM and Rootwayne who keep the place running smooth. I’ll remember the good times and the good people I met there. All the sex, drugs, booze, good times, and hilarity that came out of it. The friendships that blossomed and I plan to keep for many many years, all from a dumb site that BAM handed me a card for at St Pats 2.5 years ago. I’ll keep my sweatshirt and robe, as a memory to the good times and people I know, thanks to a website called Fullblownaids.com.

So here’s to you, FBA. Thanks for the ride.

All we wanted was to keep the O&A section a place where people who were still fans of the show could talk about it without being attacked and buried by the people who weren't. That's pretty much it. That's what we decided after many a discussion about the issue. People were driven out of that section and it became a ghost town.
