Sacco earned the two year extension Sherman says...bc Colorado gained 20 pts on last year, a year we tanked it and had an AHL team on the ice for 28 losses in about 35 fucking games.

Add in the fact that the year prior the Avs dropped 27 fucking points in Sacco's SECOND full season and this year's results are ANYTHING but deserving of a new contract. Also, the Avs were in the playoff hunt to end this year until their last game. How'd they finish the year in a tight race where a few more points would have got us in? Yah, 6 losses in the last 7 games. That's pressure must win time coaching excellence! Dump, chase, dump, chase, dump, LINE CHANGE, dump, chase, dump, chase, LOSE.

And yah, ot hockey is sick. Just wish my team made the playoffs these days. I can't believe the Devs still haven't played, but it's probably a good thing for NJ to get Marty some rest bc they were playing him late this year for no fucking good reason. Still don't get it.

I might. I've been feeling shitty lately (a cold added on to my general shitty MS feelings) so I'll see how I feel.

I don't know why they got pushed as far back as they did. I understand it has to do with TV broadcasts and that, but it still seems like too long. But hey, the Devils seem to play well after time off but interupting the streak they were on sort of sucks. And they played Marty late because he wanted to play. The time off will be good for the team to get healthy though. I don't see them lacking intensity in this series.

Big doubleheader of OTT_NYR game 2 and then CHI-PHX. Phoenix needs to go balls to the wall crazy, IMHO. There are constant rumors that an owner is going to show up but the longer this goes on, another first round exit will not help.

I'm not concerned about Dubinsky, because he'll be back for game 3.

What I AM concerned about is supplemental discipline on Hagelin for the elbow on Alfredsson. But... that could mean the biggest moment in young Chris Kreider's life.

It was a pretty dirty hit. I don't think he meant to hurt Alfredsson, but sheesh. He has to keep his stick on the ice too.

But you're right about Dubinsky. And I don't think he should've been tossed. He stepped up to help his team mate.

What I meant was, what's done is done. You move forward, Dubinsky is back for game 3.

But Hagelin is a huge key to the Rangers' offense and if he's not there, that's a major major problem going forward.

Not by me, but they had the second most points in the East and third most in the league. I think the bigger issue is Bylsma has shown little willingness to adjust his defense at all in this series.

you kidding me right? the flyers and their fans love shitty goon hockey, this whole game is disgusting

that's stupid, I never thought I'd lose more respect for a past good coach, Dan Bylsma but whoah man did I this year and now even more

he turned fucking dirty to a completely disgusting level and to say that both teams are equal participants in this is comical

to a man, the flyers square up, mostly make clean hits compared to Pitt just being the complete opposite and whiny fucking pussies to boot

what an utter pathetic display by the Pens and especially their captain

I'm being honest here, if I were the Flyers, since up 3-0, I would bring up a whole fucking AHL team of grinders and fighters to add to those already w Philly and just fight the whole fucking game. Seriously, the refs in this game were so ridiculous and lost the game bc they clearly do it different for Pitt ALL FUCKING YEAR (including Shannahan).

I'd make a statement and say NHL, this is allowed and ok on our players, so we made the adjustments and come to play the new style game.

and it cracks me up the flyers have lost 3/4 ths of the fights and yet their shitty fans cheer like crazy

you have finally gone full senile huh?

bc if not, you're a fucking fool

and I too hate both teams, but just TRY to be objective here as it's fucking clear the pens are sore fucking losers and have doing this shit all fucking year and the nhl let it happen so they earned this joke of a display.

any thought the fans might be cheering the FUCKING SCORE/LEAD and going up 3-0 on a team MANY thought would be a Cup contender, if not the fav? Yah, let's just ignore that.

I dont post here that much because even though Ive followed the Flyers since Pelle Lindbergh was their goalie I just dont talk it that much. Plus now that I work at the stadium I dont get to see as many games as Id like.

That being said, just some observations...

Pittsburgh is one of the dirtiest teams Ive ever seen. Jesus Christ, I get the whole Jordan rules they put on superstars, but Crosby gets away with murder. You know its bad when former players are going on record as basically saying "Fuck the concussions, this kid needs a beating."

Also, this Flyers team is one of the most likeable teams for me as a fan since the 2000 team. Hey Spy, I know youre old, but a goon team? Really? When was the last time a Flyers team was really just about gooning it up? Come on now.

Anyway, even though I worked I got to see a good portion of the game live. My 2 favorite parts were the "YOU CANT BEAT US" chants, and this on the jumbotron....

it truly is a joke I agree

weber nothing, carkner 1 and we're talking two guys attacking an opponent during play and then WELL after the whistle with all the intent in the world to injure/crush their guy

And this is why you're the worst sports fan on RF.net.

This Rangers team is built on youth. Youth youth youth. Columbus wanted a king's ransom for Nash. So you're going to give up some of best youth players, including Kreider and McDonagh,(who, BTW, are very cheap) for a guy who is extremely expensive? WHY? Why would you make that deal?

Seriously, answer me why you would give up Kreider or McDonagh for Nash when you can get Parise for a lot less than the cap hit Nash would have?

And in answer to your other question, I'm sure the fact that HAGELIN HAS BEEN FUCKING SUSPENDED has nothing to do with the fact that Richards and Gaborik have been lacking.

Tenbatsuzen
04-22-2012, 11:47 AM
And one more thing Kevin - the Rangers were not supposed to be anywhere near the position they are this year. Everyone expected the Rangers to be huge in 12-13, but not this year. Expectations were middle-of-the-road. That's how young and strong this team is.

And the biggest reason is that the Rangers' offense has looked like shit is because Craig Anderson has been standing on his fucking head. It's not like they Rangers aren't getting chances, they just aren't converting them.

The WORST possible thing you want to run into during the playoffs is a goalie catching fire. Hank has been good. Anderson has been amazing. That's the problem.

And did you read where it doesn't matter if the Rangers had Nash or not, because that's how good Anderson's been? It's not like the Rangers are only getting 15-20 shots a game.

You couldn't be more fucking off. I debated this with Kevin for a while back at the deadline, and he was surely NOT for making the trade but he's not being quite the fool you are in that a guy like Nash IS EXACTLY the type player that kills goalies on fire, even if I'd argue more that the Rangers are not really putting up great shots. They most definitely are not getting big bodies to the front before the shots and or utilizing anything close to a power forward, especially since Boyle got knocked out late there when needed in a big way. There's a reason guys like him do better in the playoffs vs the reg season, as big guys can do so much more in front, aren't easily knocked off pucks and can protect it in traffic better than others...and more.

My argument was exactly what we see as a need here, versus the cost in the future. Bottom line is if the Rangers get deep they'll be missing a REAL key element and it's a guy like Nash. I'd be more against it if I didn't see almost every other element in place THIS year for them to make a real run and possible Cup in the end. I just don't see it with the lack of power up front, much less muckers since they lost Hagelin. He'll add some key speed and is huge on the forecheck, but too little too late...especially tied to a big hole too.

A goalie gets hot too when you let him do the same shit time and time again. The Rangers may have added some shots last game, but nothing else really changed. Callahan got SOME pressure up front, but as when Anderson played with the Avs, his achilles heel is traffic/bodies in front, contact that makes him lose his composure and getting into his easily disturbed mind. Guys like Pavelski, Clowe and others on SJ turned the series against the Avs around in seconds after Anderson's 50 save shutout in the playoffs to go up 2-1 back in 2010. Do this, and you win.

The Rangers simply aren't, and Nash's ability to play this role is missing big. Anyone can try and help, but some are simply beasts in that role while others never play well in it.

You have to be pretty damn stupid to watch the Ranger games in the playoffs and not think that Nash would have helped big time.

I just was not ready to do what we did in 94, which at the time i understood why it was done.

And that's sacrifice possibly multiple cups for a shot at just one. Even with Nash it would not be a given that we win this year.

Granted the prospects aren't a given either, but i'd like to try and win with a bunch of home grown guys and a few stars.

Now if they did the deal that Slats was offering, id be all for it.

But there are only a few players I'd do that deal for. Stamkos, Malkin, Crosby healthy and a few more.

if you get Nash in round one, WITH ALEXANDER RADULOV coming back from the KHL all fresh to add to the O, wings are done!

and it doesn't look like St. Louis is going to let up any time soon with their recent pickup coming in by bypassing his last two years at Colorado College

kid is pretty sick too

i don't think they're even trying to win anymore, they have the playoffs sewed up and just resting players right now,not very aggressive at all since the win streak ended

congrats on one of your dumbest posts of all-time...and that's saying something since you added 10,000 fake ones to your count for some reason?

not even trying to win! haahahahahahaha!

It's always fun looking back!

hahahaahahaha!

guess they were still just resting...well Nicky is older than dspy so perhaps he was right!

I'm glad the Ronge didn't fuck up the chemistry and future for Rick Nash.

They are going too well to justify wrecking the team.

Nash is a fucking stud on a garbage team, not sure he wasn't worth it. Whatever you have to tell yourself.

I'm not saying he isn't a great player.

Would I like them to get him in the summer? sure.

But I just do not want them to mess with this team right now.

I have seen many times where teams going great makes a trade and they start sucking.

I have seen it with the Rangers.

i get that but nash is a great character guy and leader, team canada has stated many times he's been HUGE with them in the locker room

he knows how to play in every area out there and has a knack for dirty goals bc of his size and ability in front...you know, playoff hockey

he'd help ANY team and surrounded by that team it could have been the final piece to a Cup

now I just have you as a strong team...one of many and the East is TOUGH!

They also wanted some pieces of our game that are strengths on the team, young Defensemen like Del Zotto.

I do not think Doubinsky is really that great and will never be Nash so him i would not really care if they traded him.

But yea, you could be right on him being the final piece, but it always scares me when teams make moves mid year especially involving players on the team and not just prospects.

well that's just it, they seeminly wanted dubi (who will pick up the O but does everything else well) and mostly kids like Krieder and others/picks...who knows? Yet even one Cup is worth it to me. It's been what, 18 years now? You have the GT, some key D pieces, but the O is playoff weak...especially when leaning on Gabby in physical hockey games with little to protect him. Nash would have been HUGE! I hope the Avs make a play for him in the future, yet it seems Columbus is going to rebuild around him.

If it was the deal Sather offered, I would not have any problem with it at all, because as you said, Nash is a stud and would be perfect for that team.

But trading Young Dmen strengths that play for them right now with the deal Columbus wanted would be just too much to pay for him.

fair balance here, as I usually go at Kev, here is the rundown in his defense and my thoughts on Nash being a huge pickup for NYR

In the long run, I'd much rather keep the Rangers young talent and then sign Parise then give up the young talent for a contract like Nash's. It's not just Nash's talent, but the problem is the contract. The Rangers have a SHITLOAD of contracts coming due in the next few years, and I'd much rather have young, cheaper talent that is home grown and can develop even more then bringing in a huge contract and fucking up the signings you have to do to keep the veteran talent, which will include Callahan, Lundqvist, and Gaborik.

The other problem with putting pressure on Anderson like you suggest is that it just takes one play going haywire and Shanny starts handing out suspensions. Remember what Shaw got for just running into Smith, who fucking sold that like he was dead.

This team that Tortorella has right now isn't the 93-94 Rangers team, which was designed to win RIGHT NOW. I would almost compare it to the 95 Yankees. It's ALMOST there, but it's just missing a key part. You just need to get that key part without messing with the core group and chemistry - which is what bringing Nash in would have affected.

Sure, you can say the Rangers need help in crashing the net, but what happens when one half of the best defensive pairing you have is now gone in that trade?

While you KNOW I love to rip Tenbats when he's a stupid fuck (oh so often), I have actually spoke to Parise on this personally. My buddy is a decent friend of his now, and they hang here and there when I'm around. He actually asked us if we thought Devil fans would boo him if he stayed in the area BUT played for the Rangers...we laughed pretty fucking hard bc the answer is OF COURSE! Yet he really loves the area, doesn't want to move but HATES LOU and the direction of the team of late. A good playoff run may have locked him in with NJ, but now he hinted at teams close to winning and in the area most of the time. He doesn't really want to go back to Minny either, even if his fiancee would love it, as they are both from UND as well and she likes the idea of moving back to an area more open like those.

Rangers have not had much luck with ex Devils.

From Holik to Gomez.

I do not know what it is.

But in Parise we are talking about a 27 year old in his prime.

So yea getting a guy like him and keeping the prospects would be optimal.

But I do not know if he will sign here.

I think Nash price tag will fall because he is now in his final year and can walk.

It will be interesting to see where the Rangers go.

The 2nd Ottawa goal was an absolute joke.

I was watching the game on MSG so their was an obvious bias with the announcers, but it sure did look like he kicked it in. It kind of looked like he kicked the stick too and to be honest I'm not very in touch with that rule so I'm not sure if that matters. I don't see why it would.

But hey, it made the last 30 seconds a little more exciting. No way they were going to beat Lundqvist twice at the end of the game.
