That's good stuff. Today the birthers released their "proof" that Obama was born in the Republic of Kenya in August of 1961. They did a nice job with the document, and it can be found here. (http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=105764)

The only problem with it? The "Republic of Kenya" didn't exist until December of 1961.

This can only mean one thing....Obama was obviously a space baby, stronger than time or nation-state status.

Personally, I have no problem with the Republicans continuing to approach the edge of insanity. The more time they can waste on proving that Obama is not an American, or that he's the Anti-Christ, the less time they can spend on blocking actual solutions to issues. The right would rather believe in urban legends than to come up with alternative solutions to our problems.

Wanna hear the flip side of the whole "cash for clunkers" deal?

Yes, this has helped the auto makers. Yes, they're selling TONS of new cars and getting rid of old gas guzzlers.

Now who else is going to buy a new car after this deal is over? Several years ago GM had "employee pricing" when they hit hard times and they sold a massive amount of vehicles. The next year their sales plummeted.

Also, the "cash for clunkers" deal is hurting people like me and the clients I have - those in the auto repair industry.

Instead of fixing up their old cars, people are dumping them and getting brand new ones.

boobieman

True. Did not think about the repair shops. I take my car the the dealer, because of the warrenty, but once that runs out, I will be taking my car to my local repair shop. But in the overall picture I think it is a help. Automotive companies as well as the gas companies did this to themselves. Yes their sales will suck next year compaired to this year, but maybe this will give the auto companies some time to redo how they do business.

I disapprove of Obama's abilities, motives, ideology and performance thus far as a President more than most, but I will say that his Eulogy today at Big Ted's funeral was the best public appearance I have seen him attend. His speech was well crafted, well presented, seemed genuine and glossed on but was not specific to; Teddy's murderous and drunken ways.
I found a new respect for our President today. It was a perfectly delivered speech and was done so without the benefit of a teleprompter or large TV screen.

I don't totally disagree, but I would like to add a few things.

First, the economy took the lead role for this admin, even though he's taken on many things early. Overall, it would be much worse if the election went the other way. Still, I too am mad that Obama seemingly is playing it safe as opposed to pushing his agenda over the top before the 2 year elections kill his soft majority. Even though it's there, it's not as solid as some believe bc of the mods/blue dog dems who make Obama look as though he doesn't even care about getting re-elected in comparison.

When Obama took office, the economy was on a terrible fall, with the stock market down from 14k all the way to ~ 6k only a few weeks into his tenure. Not only did he (and Bush believe it or not) make the right call bailing out the banks (the opposite of Hoover bc he listened to some asshole who stated to let the issue go it'll straighten itself out via the free market which sounds oh so familar). Now the market is on the verge of hitting 10k again, a more realistic value to begin with (stocks were overvalued under W) and the housing debacle in better shape. Regulations are being put up in many industries that were being run under W by the very people they were set up to regulate. And we've set the stage for three way talks in the middle east, four if you include India who is a much bigger player in all this than you realize. I don't mean they're a part of the system in the middle east, outside of the fact that those very setups in afgan and pakistan are very much influenced by the nuclear issue with both the muslim bomb (Pakistan) and the Indian feuds.

Overall, I think Obama has done much more damage control than most would notice, especially with the media too busy covering Michael and any shit story out there. Hell, they don't even know how to actually tell the health care story so people can make an educated choice or call on it. Instead they give idiots like Palin more and more press with crazy hyperbole about nazis and killing the elderly. Yet Obama has a long way to go branding his "one payer system/public option" if he's to get this even CLOSE to through. Medicare/Mediplans for all perhaps. We all should know that our country will go broke soon due to the combination of US healthcare costs being so overly expensive and the baby boomers hitting hard. If the media at least showed the country that we ABSOLUTELY need to do something soon or the country itself will go broke...and I'm not just talking trade deficits. But hey, let's just keep fucking up like the auto industry and hope nobody is watching or cares right? It'll all work out like it did for Chrysler/Lehman Bros.

As am I. I already brought up how appalled I am at how Obama has folded step by step over health care. It's admirable that he's attempted to reach across the aisle as much as he has, but he needs to drop that shit and realize that too many of the Republicans have zero interest in playing ball and are only going to paint anything that isn't a total "compromise" that ends up being Center/Right. He needs to to go on the offensive more and start actually pushing a true Democratic agenda.

according to all the recent polling
obama is losing the support
of independents

the dems have misread the independents
thinking that their wanting 'change'
meant any change

it does not

by and large
independents are fiscally conservative
and socially liberal
the bailouts, auto takeovers
and proposed health care is
driving them away

independents who abandoned bush
did so not because he spent too little
but because he spent too much

without the support of independents

I'm neither a Republican nor a Democrat, that's why I crack up when I see liberals on this board bash Bush and the right, but fiercely defend the same idiotic behavior when their party does it, and vice versa.

It's kind of a "let's point and laugh at the hypocrisy" type thread, not one to seriously discuss Obama's merits and shortcomings.

Luckily majority of Americans realize the mistake and will stop Obama's plans for socialized medicine, dismantling our military, and destroying our energy industry for fear of global warning. Republicans will take back majorities in both houses in the next election.

Dismantling our military by only increasing the budget by 4%?

Destroying our energy industry by increasing power generated by domestic means?

Also hate to break it to your board character but republicans aren't taking back the majority by a longshot; they stand to lose a seat in the senate if anything. The house will shuffle some but what gains they make they'll lose because a lot of the gerrymandering they enacted in the late 90s/early 00s is beginning to wear off.

Not that it necessarily matters in that regard because most Democrats are really Republicans with a different moniker attached to their name. There's less than a handful of truly progressive candidates in the Senate and not that many more in the House.

Ha!

I can't wait for all the supporters to say how terrible it is to have a site like that and not support the President of our country, but they LOVED the Bush bashing sites back in the day!

That's what I mean when I speak of the hypocrisy on both sides of the political spectrum.

I also knew the love affair with Obama wouldn't last long. I always get a kick out of the people who get all excited for a new candidate and say "THIS ONE is different!"

It's not apathy, it's common sense.

I didn't think Obama wasn't a messiah, I knew it.

I didn't think he couldn't magically sure all of the nation's ills, I knew it.

Not because I'm apathetic.

Because I'm logical.

This is what frustrates me about people like you, Gvac. You sit there on your omnipotent high horse and mock people, but you have no skin in the game. Millions of people in this country face major financial and mortal crises. They are disenfranchised and feel completely powerless to effect any positive change for themselves, and short of the power of the vote, they are. They look to this man for leadership, with earnestness and a profound hope that maybe, just maybe, he could make their lives a little better. The right characterized this as a messiah complex to marginalize that hope for political reasons. You characterize it as illogical. IMHO, I find your pessimism disgusting, counterproductive and inhuman.

Say what you like about Obama. I'm having a hard time nowadays defending him to my conservative friends anyway. But I'll be damned if I'm going to sit back and watch you and people like you dismiss a nation of scared, increasingly poor, increasingly sick people as sheep for believing in their leaders.

It's fucking turns my stomach.

The machine that is set up in Washington D.C. is far more powerful than any one man and his ideals, no matter how noble.

Promises of a "transparent Presidency" aside, there are things NO ONE is allowed to get away with when they assume the role, whether they want to or not.

As I stated previously, identifying oneself as a "Democrat" or a "Republican" is the main problem. It ensures that your candidates need to do nothing more than sign up to the party of your choice and they're getting your vote.

Until the American people really are sick of it (and don't just say it) things won't change.

Americans are sick of it and we are starting to resist attempts to expand the government into all aspects of people's lives. Obama has been great for this country. By trying to shove his socialist policies down our throats, he has woken up a large segment of our population.

A little piece of (unsolicited) advice: never, ever count on anyone but your family, your friends, and yourself to make your life even a little better. These are the entities to be believed in and counted on - most certainly not the so called leaders. This is not to dismiss or diminish the occasional kindness and goodwill of strangers and even the government now and then. Hope is one thing, dependence is another. By the way, the way you describe these millions of people, they might as well be sheep.

"Sick of it" implies that the system is broken.

It's not.

It's a lazy copout for people to bemoan our government as if it's terrible or doomed or whatever other melodramatic yet ultimately meaningless criticism they toss out as an excuse to pay zero attention to the political process.

It's incredibly easy to justify not being involved or informed when all someone does is complain that things are too horrible to even bother.

"Sick of it" implies that the system is broken.

It does?

How do you figure?

I think saying "until Americans are sick of it" it implies just that; that Americans will finally get fed up with the corruption and backroom dealings of their government.

Which means what?

I can only attempt to extrapolate what you're implying with vague statements about people being "sick of it" or "finally get fed up." Then what happens?

And people broadly claiming to be "fed up with the corruption and backroom dealings of their government" merely belies, to me, a fundamental misunderstanding of our history and of the American political system.

Jeff is not counting on the Govt to give him squat. We have excellent health insurance and pay out the butt in taxes. He, however, has empathy for those who don't have basic things like healthcare. I have the same outlook of fending for myself, but not everyone can. People can fall into desperate times, especially with a major medical emergency, and I like to think we're the kind of country that can make the changes to avoid that happening to our citizens.

MARCH 27, 2009: “Today, I'm announcing a comprehensive, new strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan. “…

REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT ON A NEW STRATEGY FOR AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN (http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/Remarks-by-the-President-on-a-New-Strategy-for-Afghanistan-and-Pakistan/)

That strategy sounded pretty good to me. Very comprehensive. That was six months ago, in March. So, I’m looking for him to tell us just how well he has done in implementing that strategy so far. Or, if he wants to do a “new” strategy, he needs to tell us what is so different from the “old” one and why he has waited to implement it. And if “new”, why he either changed his mind from March or why he has now decided to go in a new direction based on new information. That’s not too much to ask. Truly tough decisions cannot wait forever, and so far it seems to me that, bottom line, he has done nothing but wait.

Given how Bush aged about 40-45 years in 8 years of office I think a President can take as many days as he wants; we're in a relatively enough modern era that the location of the president isn't a big issue. Given the stress level involved, it ain't a big thing for Bush to have been endlessly clearing brush (seriously, how the fuck big was the ranch?) or Obama playing golf every weekend.

We ended up discussing this at the gym today and the reasoning behind it makes a lot of sense.

Those who have the power over the human population want more of it, and they want complete and total control over everyone. With billions of people on the planet they control is limited, by reducing the population they increase the amount of control they can have. If only several million are left they can easily control the complete food supply and have people do what they want.

It doesn't need to make sense for us, we are not the elite, they want power and nothing but power an will do anything they can to get it.

Discussion eventaully led to the flu shots and milk thistle, but I had to powder myself up and get changed at that point so I missed out on it.

A few days ago Obama went to Dover AFB to view the caskets of fallen military coming back from Afghanistan. I think it was a good gesture by him and as commander in chief it shows that he is concerned about the fallen. I am not going as far as some of the radio talkers and say that it was a photo op , however the cameras , press pool and entourage were not needed. Perhaps Obama is still not politically mature yet. I think it was unseemly. Especially because 11 of 17 families involved that day had opted for no coverage, before they found out that he would be there. But for him it was overall a no-lose proposition. I’m not saying he was insincere, but there was a political tinge to it imo and that sucks. The families of those that came home that day I'm sure were honored and comforted, but what about those that come home on all the other days? He should’ve done it privately, with maybe a one-para writeup to satisfy the media.

Our economy is in the shitter and he uses taxpayer funds to hand out candy. Despicable.

Dried fruit mixes? He's lucky the White House wasn't egged.

Toilet paper all over the trees like that episode of Curb would have been better

They could have sliced up cucumbers and turnips from the Victory Garden. Way to contribute to the deficit Obamas!!!!!

What the hell are "presidential M&M's?!?"

They're regular M&Ms that come in a special box with the Presidential Seal and the President's signature on them.

I got a few boxes a couple of years ago during a White House tour during the first President Bush's term.

He should've promoted our economy and given out state quarters like old people, and Fez would.

"Dried fruit" is obviously "code" showing the Obama administration is going to turn the country over to elderly homos and their kid-touching agenda....

The Republicans were the overwhelming winners in yesterday's elections.

Obama has already lost his stroke, a little over 9 months into his term.

Dude!

They need to invade a country that isn't a threat to us... since he's the Worst President Ever, I give Obomber about another week, two weeks, tops, before he does so....

Meanwhile epo keeps quoting exit polls and believing all is well with the Democrat party.

"Everyone still loves us!"

It's so sad...

O’Leary, O’Reilly, O’Hare and O’Hara
There’s no one as Irish as Barack O’Bama

You don’t believe me, I hear you say
But Barack’s as Irish, as was JFK
His granddaddy’s daddy came from Moneygall
A small Irish village, well known to you all

He’s in the white house, He took a chance
Now let’s see Barack do Riverdance
Toor a loo, toor a loo, toor a loo, toor a lama
There’s no one as Irish As Barack O’Bama

He’s as Irish as bacon and cabbage and stew
He’s Hawaiian he’s Kenyan American too
He’s in the white house, He took his chance
Now let’s see Barack do Riverdance

Toor a loo, toor a lay, toor a loo, toor a lama
There’s no one as Irish As Barack O’Bama

From Kerry and cork to old Donegal
Let’s hear it for Barack from old moneygall
From the lakes if Killarney to old Connemara
There’s no one as Irish as Barack O’Bama
