Lord knows I stopped supporting a lot of Bush's policies near the end, yet he was the president and we needed to live with that. I will probably be one of the few to still be supporting Obama if/when many of his supporters abandon ship.

Still wondering, exactly, what the difference is. If he “screwed up” with Daschle and Killefer, then how is Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner not a screwup? I mean, if he wants to keep him in for the “good of the country”, admits he too was a screwup, and says so, then I’ll buy that. But shouldn’t all such (obviously similar) screwups be on a level playing field?

This whole thing of BHO sitting in the Oval Office repeatedly saying “I screwed up”, especially just two weeks into office, is quite remarkable. Some may think it positive - ‘refreshing” or “just being human”. I think it’s quite un-presidential. So many have deemed him destined for greatness, but can you see JFK, FDR, Lincoln, Washington, or others saying such a thing?

He’s set quite a precedent for himself. Having screwed up some nominations and then expressed his screw-ups as he did. Nominations are important, yes, but in the big scheme of things involved with being President they can almost be deemed relatively minor. The precedent has been set, by the man himself, and I expect to hear him admit all future screw-ups - large and small – as they occur. And they will occur - as they do with all Presidents.

I think his timing on admitting these screw-ups was especially precious. The talk of the stimulus bill was being overrun by all the nomination screw-up problems. So he did what he could to defuse the situation and try to get the dialogue back to where he wanted it. In fact, the time he used in the Oval Office with the networks to admit his screw-ups was originally planned for discussing the stimulus, and at the last minute he changed the agenda.

And I’m still, still wondering, what the difference is, exactly, between Daschle and Killefer - (*gone*) and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner (*still there*).
