All the kiddies singing about Obama.
Surefire proof he's the Worst President Ever.... they couldn't shut those kids up when Bush was in office....

Barack Obama Elementary School song:
There’s a sound of Change
Blowing in the wind
It’s a sound that started long ago
By those who dare to dream
Fighting against the loss
With a passion of hope of better days
They had a dream
They had hope
for a friend to bring this nation together as one
The journey begins to education
Unlocking every door
Shaping a better tomorrow
We are sons and daughters
Of promise
Of school like a city upon a hill
Lights inside our hearts
And hope to [unintelligible]
To rise and conquer
[unintelligible]
To dream
To make a difference
Not just in our land
But in the world
Yes we can
Make a difference
If we unite
Together and take
I am the dream
I am the hope
I am the bridge that’ll bring this nation
Together as one
The journey begins to education
Unlocking every door
To shaping a better
Tomorrow
There’s [unintelligible]
If I teach you believe
My voice will count
My voice will be heard
Do you hear the sound
I am the dream
Do you hear the sound
I am the hope
Do you hear the sound
Yes we can.

I just didn't want to start another thread. I feel it's incredibly dumb and a bit creepy to have school children singing about a sitting president REGARDLESS of political affiliation.

I suspect the author had been working on this article for a while, and was waiting for an opportune time to publish it, which he did today. Not worst, or best, but decidedly undetermined at this point.
'Change has come' ... or has it? (http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/29111)
A piece with some points of view that I happen to agree with, for what little that’s worth:
“Obama has the soul of an ideologue. He wants to be a transformational president — unconfined by the limitations of conventional politics and determined to put a lasting mark on his era.”
“But Obama also has the soul of an operative. He and his West Wing team — dominated at the top by people whose expertise is in the world of campaigns and Washington maneuvers — have proved to be far more familiar political types …”
“In his first year, he has presided over more new domestic spending than Bill Clinton, the last Democratic president, did in eight years. The “big bang” agenda he laid out earlier this year on health care, energy and financial regulation unmistakably signaled his ambition to vastly expand the role of government in American life. “
“On health care, it is clear that Obama’s team is more concerned with a victory — one his team expects by the end of the year — than with the programmatic details.”
“Obama’s backtracks are too fresh, and too discreet, to fully define him or become the narrative of his presidency, at least not yet. But he’s edging toward dangerous ground. Nowhere is that clearer than Afghanistan.”

That's the biggest thing that is pissing me off about Obama and Congress. They are taking their sweet fucking time coming up with stricter financial regulations. This should be the easiest part. The law is already written. Just fucking pass it again.

Things are getting dire.. word at the gym is that due to the recent Republican victories of this week's elections Obama is planning some sort of false flag event (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_flag) in the United States in order to show himself as a protector. US citizens will be killed and there will be significant damage done but people will be thanking and praising Obama for his help in saving people.
It's disgusting but it's the kind of games expected by a Liberal government backed by shadow players that will do anything to keep themselves in power.

i have been expecting this
i thought it would come later
though
like right before the 2012 election
when it looks like Obama will lose
then in late October 2012 comes
the staged event
and then his attempted coup

U-6 is 17.5%
and yes, we're losing at a far slower pace thanks to the stimulus. Another round of stimulus money should go out to shore up state budget deficits further to help stem some of the damage that is occurring. California is already past the permanent damage point, Texas is closing in on it and a large swath of lesser GDP states. Only a scant few states are in the relatively healthy unemployment range and retail sales are faltering, causing more job loss in our ever-increasingly retail based economy.
Regardless, given the exponential nature of job loss in the American economy the people who have such a naive and narrow minded understanding of economics are really hurting our chances of recovering from it. Not that citing the Postman is in any way useful but there is a certain similarity now between Holnists and those opposing proven economic methods for starting economic recovery (and before you say "Well, WW2 brought us out of the Depression" just remember that during WW2, roughly 50% of the American GDP was in some way related to government controlled spending)

The Key to that GDP figure is that 65+ years ago we were producing items. Car assembly lines were made to produce tanks and planes. That was an all pitch in effort What do we produce now? Almost nothing We are a consumption based economy. Furthermore borrowing and spending is not the cure to what got us to this point which was borrowing and spending
This whole jobs created and or saved is fuzzy logic, thats like saying I lost $1000 playing roulette but made back $400 at the blackjack table and went home

10%, not 17%. Not that 10% is a good thing either, it fucking sucks. But last time I checked 10% was still less than 17%.
And I think lifting the restrictions on stem cell research is a pretty big deal. And he signed into law the new hate crimes bill. That's two off the top of my head. You can't say he hasn't done anything, all you can say is you don't agree with what he has done. If you want to argue about the effectiveness of what he has done that is another story.

When you factor in people who haved stopped looking its actually about 17%, Furthermore long term unemployment is greater now then during the depression.
This might sound shocking but I believe the elimination of the Missile defense in E. Europe was one of his better policies, Also I believe that We should withdrawl from Afghanistan, They don't want to be westernized, let them live in the 7th century, Our Military shouldnt be nation building and being public relations people. Why is he taking his time on this important issue?
Don't stop there, why do we need a military presence in so many other countries? I think its time to dismantle the empire a bit.
No more national guard units deploying overseas would be a better move, They should be mobilized to protect the southern border

Yeah, we gotta bail on Afghanistan. Like with Iraq after the first Gulf War, we totally shit the bed by not focusing on Afghanistan when we had the opportunity to maybe make some real changes in in the wake of the initial occupation. It sucks that the place will essentially just collapse into civil war, but the only other option is likely just occupying the country indefinitely. We need to be out of there.
And "dismantling the empire" a bit should help us cut down on wasteful spending. Mobilizing armed forces indefinitely along the border does not.
We need to go Roman Empire on our troops. Bring them home, have them start building public works shit. We already pay their salary so its just the cost of materials. We can start building our wall down south, patrol our borders and start building artificial reefs for the gulf coast.

My friend, I do a lot of sailing and the Coasties don't come anywhere close to keeping anyone out. I'm not knocking them, they do a great job, but sailing a boat from Central America to anywhere up and down the coasts or inland up rivers and bays is ridiculously easy to do and not get caught.
I know a guy in Florida who regularly sails back and forth to Cuba and has no problems doing so.
You could multiply the Coast Guard by a factor of 10 and have no effect because they are already spread a lot more thinly than you realize....

Exactly. It's not at all a knock on the Coast Guard: you'd have to deploy them and the Navy to actually cut down on all the people already who can get here by boat much less all the people going that way if the Southern boarder is sealed off with a fulltime military deployment. Nevermind that the deployment would eventually have to extended to the northern border since you can just walk across most of it with no problem.

Gym was intense today.
Folks in the sauna were talking about Canadians being double dosed with H1N1 shots.
Parking lot conversations were about 2012 and how the poles being shifted is already known by the military and plans are in action to save themselves when the oceans move.
Out on the gym floor veterans were enraged about how they were being used by corporations like Applebees and their "Free meal for a vet" scam that is basically a free advertisement for them.
Ugh.
Hardly wanted to do any squats because of the depression in the air.

No it's not, it's a bullshit scheme cooked up by people in the corporate headquarters. They knew it would get them free publicity, which it has, so now families will go with the vet relatives to the food joints, buy food they wouldn't have otherwise, and Applebees will increase their profits. They market it as if they care about the military and its being done for the troops. Total scam for the news and other media outlets to promote them for no cost.

Seems like a healthy free market at work to me. If the vet's families can't be responsible for their decisions that is not my problem.
Do you want the government to regulate this?
I mean corporations act responsibly, that is why government regulation is unnecessary.
After all, government regulation is what caused the current housing crisis, banks wanted to act responsibly, but they were coerced into creating a recession.

No, of course the government shouldn't be involved. The large corporations that run this country can play off the naive hopes that the general population has in concepts like good will and charity all they want. If people are dumb enough to think that these places are actually doing something nice for them then let them live in their fantasy world. Keep the masses unaware and happy, they are easier to control that way.

Fears arose about the same thing coming here to the states if the attacks happen.
One dude at the gym talked about his plans to get a solar generator, he is sure that the power is going to be turned off next year in order to save energy, he's worried about the food in his fridge spoiling and his basement flooding because he wont be able to run his sump pump.

Today I didn't work out as it is an off day, I just hung out in the sauna with a vet and then afterward wandered around the floor for a while covered in sweat. In the sauna I told the vet about how his water bottle is most likely killing him because of BPA and PVC and that he shouldn't have it in the heat. Just yesterday a study was released warning about the chemicals and non functioning penis's.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/11/11/bpa.erectile.dysfunction/

Why is it so hard to believe that some of us actually go on in public and don't praise Obama 24/7? There is a conservative base out there that is not (that) afraid to talk to each other in public about the hard hitting issues of today's society.
How could I ever come up with a story about me sitting in a sauna with a veteran talking about his junk and the effects plastic may have on it? These things are based firmly in reality and are accurate representations of the world we live in and conversations that actually happen.

Nobody in their right mind goes around expecting "praise" of Obama all the time and everywhere they go. What's so hard to believe is that there's a gym somewhere apparently where all the members are conspiracy theory loons and spend each day having group discussions about the crazy theory du jour. It's simply ridiculous. The actual conservative base isn't comprised of paranoid lunkheads talking about some one world order while doing squat thrusts. "His bow is neither (1) unprecedented nor (2) a sign of cultural understanding.
"At their 1971 meeting in Alaska, the first visit of a Japanese Emperor to America, President Nixon bowed and referred to Emperor Hirohito and his wife repeatedly as 'Your Imperial Majesties.'"
"Yet, (and?) Nixon gets the bow right. Slight arch from the waist hands at his side.
"The bow as he performed did not just display weakness in Red State terms, but evoked weakness in Japanese terms....The last thing the Japanese want or need is a weak looking American president and, again, in all ways, he unintentionally played that part.
"BTW, Obama's bow at Suntory Hall was much better. Correct angle, slight bow. His hands were wrong but the physical tone was correct and appropriate.

Americans don't bow down to or bow down before leaders of other countries. We also do not expect leaders of our countries to bow down to or bow down before our leaders because our President is not royalty. If Obama wants to bow, he should learn to do it properly so it doesn't appear that he is bowing down to another country's leader. His people would do better if they just said "one of our people told him it was appropriate to bow and he was bowing in the manner that they demonstrated". Their whole "he didn't bow" crap just makes it worse because everybody can see the picture and see that he did bow. It's like George Bush Sr's staff coming out and saying "he didn't puke on the emperor. he just got some sauce on his chin while eating and people are just being hypercritical to make him look bad." Obama's staff should take the blame for the fuck up and then just teach him how to do it properly so they can quit making excuses for it.

I said we "don't bow down". And we don't expect anybody to "bow down to us". I'm not sure what that has to do with dick size. Our President is not royalty so nobody bows to him, including other world leaders. It's mutual and doesn't require any dick measurement at all.
There's a huge difference between a bow of mutual respect and the deep humbled bow of a peasant before royalty.

Obviously, America's huge debt to China only started when Obama came into office. Everyone else gets a free pass because we were fightin' terror and rebuilding hurricane-struck cities. And now that Osama has been captured and New Orleans is back on top of the world, we should totally tighten the belt and focus on the issues that matter, like stopping gay people from marrying, women from getting abortions, and deporting Mexicans so that white people can cook our food, build our houses, and stand on the corner and get picked up in trucks for the day's work.

Lets call everything pre Obama years as BO Before Obama
Quadrupling down on Bushs stupidity really doesnt make too much sense, This economy keeps going down the drain Americans will be hopping the border into Mexico
China owns us they own trillions of our treasury bonds, but dont worry, those pesky 5% rich people will finance everything
The point is no one really cared about Bush's wild budget deficit and careless wars. It wasn't until the corporate puppetmasters at NewsCorp started to get their huddled white masses worked up into a fury people suddenly become disciples of Smith.

He's looking very sickly these days - thin, pale, and graying at a phenomenal rate.
I wonder if he's seriously ill or just stressed...

Iran announced on Wednesday it would not export its enriched uranium for further processing, effectively rejecting the latest plan brokered by the International Atomic Energy Agency (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iRqjZV1Meppj40hTs8IBOv4DdsQwD9C2RLM01)
“President Barack Obama said Thursday that the six nations dealing with Iran's nuclear program will develop a package of serious new punitive measures in coming weeks.”

Fiscal conservatives like me did care. Billions were handed to companies like ADM in corporate welfare for ethanol subsidies
On the other hand the corporate whores who work for GE like Queef Olberdouche at 30 Rock who said Bush squandered the clinton surplus say deficits don't matter anymore
Now that their man is at 1600 Penn everythings ok by them

Why not? What's the rush? You seem to be implying that they need to be acting like nuclear war with Iran is right around the corner. That's probably the absolute worst way this situation can be approached.
