I was just walking outside to take the trash can from the curb back to the side of my house when a burrowing owl that had been perched atop the cab of my truck took off and flew across my path about a foot in front of me at chest level. When I jumped another owl flew from the fence on the opposite side of my path to a tree on the other side of the driveway. Damn birds nearly gave me a heart attack.

Being a child of Twin Peaks, owls always hold a bit of excitement value to me. One drunken evening at this cabin that we used to live in out in the woods, we were enjoying ourselves out on the patio melting the handles off of the weber with a raging bbq bonfire. Lo and behold, two pygmy owls fluttered around like hummingbirds and landed on the tree branches 10 feet from us and our ridiculousness. They sat there for a moment and appraised us, then pissed off. To make life more interesting to compensate for self-esteem related malaise, I pretend that the owls were the spiritual embodiment of some native american lovers that were slaughtered by the white man and probably entombed in the gigantic stone fireplace/chimney that the cabin was built around. Ha ha, silly native american spirits, this land is for the white man.


The Creephouse Saga Continues
The reptilian clone replacement family has moved in next door. They are busy making a big show of doing domestic chores like mowing the lawn and other yardwork. I'm going to be watching them until I can figure out a safe way to neutralize them before they spread to the rest of the neighborhood. I'm pretty sure that boiling rice in linseed oil yields ricin, so I've got that on the stove now. I've also fashioned a bolt launcher from a fishing reel, old leaf springs and a large wooden crucifix. I'm sharpening closet rods on the belt sander as we speak. I've also drawn up blueprints for a subterranean tunnel from my yard to their basement. I'll keep everyone posted on my little "neighborhood watch" project.

I wasn't technically full time at my job. What's kind of ironic is that I was in the process of filing for disability. I still want to work and had every intention of working at my job even if my disability came through.

My wife is watching "The Voice" right now. I have a hangover. She's not fond of my comments about the show, so I'll bug you guys with them. This show fucking STINKS. I never watched American Idol, but I'm assuming it is just as bad as this. Carson Daly looks like a cunt. Ceelo is a fucking monumental idiot and everything that comes out of mouth sounds like something that would be said by a head trauma survivor. Christina A. has a weird face; it doesn't match her body. I could give a shit about the other two gaylords, but how does anyone think that these four performers are actually picking the singers? He exaggerates. There is a bit of post-whoring, but the thread is pretty centered on the show. Heck, when the show is clicking, the thread thrives. When there's an extended interview, the thread dies.

I disagree Spy - I was just busting balls with you (like you do on a daily basis). I have posted a lot of non show related stuff because the show hasnt been giving enough to post on in the past. I didnt know or had any idea that in the past the listening thread is only for show related comments only. I do comment about the show but never have I ever cared about how many posts end up in there. I just want stimulating conversation.

With that said, I will agree that I personally do post a lot of random ideas and comments in the listening thread that dont belong there and I will from now on keep those to the random thouights thread ok?

I would hate to see people not enjoying the listening thread because of issues such as these and myself being the main culprit lately.

This post by Ozzie (part of it) is well thought out and deserves to be highlighted in a thread still open. Pretty much sums up a lot of what was being questioned in that old thread and around here for years bc of the show distancing itself from here.

..."Board gossip" stopped being funny, and there was just too much drama between boards. Most of which I didn't relate to, as this was the only place I posted/read.

I think when they did the stupid "unity show", and they basically seemed to be asking Ron and the show to moderate some fabricated "sit down", they were realizing that they needed to separate themselves from this crap.

That was pretty much the end.

What's funny to me is that with twitter, and now the comment section of the ibang, they're basically actively viewing and reading on air a "listening thread"... which they've always condemned. Really, what's the difference?

Other than, I'm sure they ibang folks are actively deleting any negative comments for them, so it's probably "safer" over there.

A big part of what got me hooked on listening to this show was the old callers. And when I started realizing that some of these were "buddays" of the show who they met through this board, I joined so I could lurk and read more. I started recognizing callers names/handles, and people who regularly got read on the old "instant feedback". All the best seemed to have come from this site, and there was as much hilarity on here back then as there was on the show.

And this site deserves a lot of credit for keeping up with the show during the moves and transitions. Fucking people were transcribing shows and posting recaps immediately. Serious committment type stuff, along with the underground feeds and posting audio clips.

Which is why it hurt when the show turned their back on this place over such trivial shit. But, whatever. That was years ago. They've moved on, and I've adapted. I have a twitter acct, again, for lurking purposes, but I've never "tweeted". I've been to the iBang, but don't see myself becoming a regular "commentor" there, or whatever they call themselves.

Whatever it is, it will never become a "community", or, hell I'll say it, a "family" like they used to have here, and I guess they're ok with that now.
