my wife and I use to own and drive a Sprinter, doing the same type long haul stuff truckers do. Anything that broke on that fucking thing cost 2 grand to fix. We made good money for about a year, running about 3000 miles a week at a little over a dollar a mile, we were never home, but we got paid. After we got big miles on that beast we were basically working for the van, at 2 grand a pop for repairs. It was fun at first, but never again, hopefully.

I took it to the shop. They analyzed it and said the number 3 ignition coil was bad. They wanted about $230 to fix it. I paid the $35 for the analysis, bought a coil for $95 and fixed it in less than 5 minutes. Car runs great now. The markup on parts at repair shops is rape.

Well, it starts with people talking about it which is easy enough to avoid. But then people started writing stories about how people are mad at the ending, and today it was the subject of a penny arcade comic, both of which specify the tone of the ending. So it's gone from being something I'd have to seek out to an actual topic popping up in the 'news.'

I think the industry as a whole maybe isn't used to games driven by narrative strength, which is getting to be more of a thing. You cant write about those subjects the same way as objective gaming aspects.

It has the possibility of being a breakthrough case," said investigative journalist Leslie Kean, the author of the book "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record."


The case goes back to an air show that was staged in November 2010, at Chile's Air Force academy, which is headquartered at the El Bosque Air Force Base in Santiago. Nothing untoward was noticed by anybody during the show itself, but Kean said an engineer at the nearby aircraft factory noticed an anomalous spot as he was sifting through video taken from the show, looking for an image that could be used as a poster photo.

The spot appeared to move quickly from frame to frame, and the engineer thought it looked enough like some sort of craft to notify the Chilean government agency in charge of investigating anomalous aerial phenomena, known by the Spanish acronym CEFAA.

The way Kean tells it, CEFAA investigators looked around for other video clips of the event and pieced together six additional views of the spot-shaped phenomena. Ricardo Bermudez, a retired Chilean Air Force general who is now CEFAA's director, told a UFO conference last month that his agency consulted with other officials, image-processing experts and "non-believer astronomers." CEFAA's conclusion was that the spots were caused by an object traveling through the scene at speeds in excess of 4,000 mph — so fast that it went unnoticed by air-show spectators.

"Humans inside this object could not survive," Kean and a co-author, former New York Times investigative reporter Ralph Blumenthal, wrote in a Huffington Post report appearing on Tuesday. "And, somehow, it made no sonic boom..."

Just got back from shopping while I was getting gas. This guy comes up looked like trouble. Starts his I need money pitch.

But says he wants no money 'I want to catch a buzz'.. 'Can you help me out'? I was took back don't hear that pitch much. So I say 'sorry I don't do drugs', and ask him if that pitch works much.

Is this truly the video that UFO skeptics have been dreading? Actually, a compilation of 17-month-old video clips from a Chilean military air show is stirring up predictable responses from both sides of the UFO debate, but no dread.

For those who are inclined to believe that some unidentified flying objects exhibit characteristics beyond what our technology seems capable of, the El Bosque case could represent the latest, greatest evidence for flying saucers.

"This is a very, very unusual case, and I'm hoping that this case will help move forward the recognition that there really is something here that's worthy of further study. ... It has the possibility of being a breakthrough case," said investigative journalist Leslie Kean, the author of the book "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record."


The case goes back to an air show that was staged in November 2010, at Chile's Air Force academy, which is headquartered at the El Bosque Air Force Base in Santiago. Nothing untoward was noticed by anybody during the show itself, but Kean said an engineer at the nearby aircraft factory noticed an anomalous spot as he was sifting through video taken from the show, looking for an image that could be used as a poster photo.

The spot appeared to move quickly from frame to frame, and the engineer thought it looked enough like some sort of craft to notify the Chilean government agency in charge of investigating anomalous aerial phenomena, known by the Spanish acronym CEFAA.

The way Kean tells it, CEFAA investigators looked around for other video clips of the event and pieced together six additional views of the spot-shaped phenomena. Ricardo Bermudez, a retired Chilean Air Force general who is now CEFAA's director, told a UFO conference last month that his agency consulted with other officials, image-processing experts and "non-believer astronomers." CEFAA's conclusion was that the spots were caused by an object traveling through the scene at speeds in excess of 4,000 mph — so fast that it went unnoticed by air-show spectators.

"Humans inside this object could not survive," Kean and a co-author, former New York Times investigative reporter Ralph Blumenthal, wrote in a Huffington Post report appearing on Tuesday. "And, somehow, it made no sonic boom..."

I went to see my neurologist today because I've been feeling shitty because of my MS and it was a pretty good time. Meaning, when he went over the MRIs I've had (since my first episode till now) and said it seems like, minus a lesion it's pretty much the same. The neurological exam he did showed I was pretty much the same as before too, which is good. They offered me a chance to be part of two trials with drugs they're working on which sounds kind of tempting because all the health care would be free and I would be under constant supervision. There's no placebo in the study either so I would be getting meds, which so far have been seen to be pretty positive. At the same time, it's a lot of medical stuff. I'd have to go to the hospital and get the medicine through an IV and do injections of basically saline. Or if I had the other drug I would be doing actual injections of it and be getting saline through the IV. I'd have to get 4 MRIs a month and full neurological exams. It all seems kind of overwhelming and I don't think I'm at the point where I'm ready to throw my current meds under the bus. I've got to think about it though.

For the pain I'm having I was prescribed Elavil which is predominantly an anti-depressant. It is used for pain though too. One of the side effects is nightmares which I thought was odd, but it's kind of common I guess. I've had incredibly vivid dreams after taking Ambien and some were frightening, but they never used the term "nightmares" in the warnings.

That was a whole lot of rambling.

I did have odd dreams but I suppose dreams are pretty much inherently odd. In the one I was with a friend at the high school we both went to. We were by the football field and there was some kind of rally going on. I assume it was a pep rally but I'm not sure. We snuck off into the gym which actually turned out to be a warehouse full of tall racks with boxes stacked on all of them. My friend opened one of th eboxes and found bags of trail mix. We heard people coming through the doors into the gym/warehouse and my friend proceeded to open a bag and eat as much as he could. Then I woke up.

Are the ones selected for termination given a chance to interview for the other openings?

That's generally how we roll here. I've inherited a lot of "white collar" folks into training them to build aircraft parts... if they're interested, and willing to do the work.

Some have worked out great, and it keeps the "talent" within the company in case the other department staffs back up again. Some have floated back and forth multiple times.

Other times... I'm getting folks that just should have been terminated for performance / production reasons, and they took the chickenshit way out by "transferring" them to my dept so that Mgr wouldn't have to fire them himself. Then I get the honor. Joy.

My company's success is based on winning the bid for the clinical trials data gathering process for a new drug trying to get to market. Sometimes, we will run out of work in one area but have years of backlog in another.

The people today were on the end of the run out of work stick.

I was bicycling and my further receded hairline plus the warm weather being so early in the season when my conditioning is down I was getting a ton of sweat and road dirt in my eyes.

I dont want a sweat band or a bandana, and I dont want one of those plastic sweat gutters that look really uncomfortable. I could use a hat but I dont like hats and the shape is a real problem.

Then it hit me, what I want is one of those hats with the tiny brim. What has happened to me, I dont want to look like one of those guys.

I like to look at different cities on Craigslist and you can tell how popular bicycling is by how many listing are in the bikes section, some places have hundreds a day some places have 5 a week. And it has nothing to do with climate or landscape or anything, it's wierd.
