What a bad/dumb penalty by the Jets!
Watch out Folk, they'll be coming for revenge now that they hurt old man Hanson.
And oh wow Buffalo may have just found yet ANOTHER way to lose. Lindell just missed his first extra point of his entire career going for the tie against Chicago.

I hate the jets more then any other team in the nfl and I think the reason is more that im forced to watch them every week and they are the most boring team in the nfl in the history of sports. I think all these years of being forced to watch them has made me hate them more and more.
Then again I dont hate the giants as much but dont like them either and Im forced to watch their boring team too!

despite more special teams chaos, nice win for SD to almost get them to .500
one thing I do know is Rivers is an exremely good qb as his stats are only getting better with the likes of 2 practice squad wrs (all three starters out floyd, nanee and davis) and late trade crayton. At TE, he has old man mcmichael and big name kris wilson bc of Gates being out as well.
Here's his starting wrs/te look...Seyi Ajirotutu, Patrick Crayton with Goodman in the slot. McMichael and Wilson on the edges at TE. Rivers was 17/23 for 295 and 4 tds/1 int on the road for the win.
I still hate Turner, but here come the Bolts and their normal November/December football. It may be too late this year but at least they have a week to get healthy for a run perhaps. With good old Turner I'm sure they'll play their normal January football as well unfortunately.
Wow Lions, how dumb on that pass attempt while looking to run down the clock and now a DUMB late hit.
My hat is off to the Vikings for that win. Down 14 with 6 minutes left and their season likely ruined.
Good win for them.

how terible was the coaching by the lions? with 3 and 6 and the jets have no time outs left and your starting qb is out and you have your 3rd string qb in, the lions do a pass play ? they could have run 40 more seconds off the clock if they would have run it. schwartz is a terrible coach and the jets get so lucky they were getting pounded this entire game.

Austin Collie just got knocked the fuck out on a clean hit that drew a flag.
There is absolutely no way to fairly enforce these roughing penalties. On this particular hit Collie got hit in the midsection, causing him to spin into another defender that had helmet to helmet contact.

The league is in an absolutely impossible position. The calls are bullshit, but at the same time they can't just let the game continue where there's a realistic chance that a player could be paralyzed or worse every week.

Clean hit AND Reid could have challenged the ruling. It was a fumble. Of course, the very next play Manning goes right down the middle again. He knows there's no danger for the receiver.
It's not gonna be long before WRs start acting like they are being destroyed every time they are hit because that's all referees are going on. How bad the hit looks. There was nothing close to illegal about that hit.

then make the game touch football. sorry but you cant take these types of hits out of the game. these players know what they sign up for. why is it that every single player says they dont want it changed? because they know its football and its how its played.
I hate to say it but if someone dies or gets paralyzed they know there is always a chance. No player has ever died. Could it happen yes but to be worried about it makes no sense because it hasnt happened. players have been paralyzed before but its so rare that you cant try to protect that by players actions only by equipment.
that was a legal hit he wasnt defenseless he caught the ball turned and put his head down as a runner. bad call and the nfl rules suck. are they going throw flags every time a player gets hurt? stupid!

Is the play not reviewable due to the penalty ?
This new focus on receiver hits is so hypocritical, because the interior lineman who are banging heads 60 plays a game have a much larger chance at long term injury and absolutely nothing is being done about that.

It's all about PR, not reality. People are getting outraged about these crushing hits and the NFL is doing its best to appease them. The NFL has and will continue to treat its retired players as worth slightly more than garbage.

While I agree that it's never happened, I also dont' recall this many serious head/neck injuries in a football season, do you? Even with the rule changes.
I agree that it was a terrible call, but at the same time I understand the NFL being overly aggressive.
Oh. So the NFL says that Collie's second foot didn't land before the SECOND hit despite the fact that it clearly landed well before the FIRST hit. So they are doubling down and telling you not to believe your own eyes.

I know that there have been a lot of penalties/fines for aggressive hits, but have there really been a lot of serious head/neck injuries this year ?
The flag was after the play. Maybe even after the whistle. Im not positive about this, just putting it out there.
The flag was on the hit that caused the fumble. It was essentially before the fumble.
And I don't know how they can possibly make an argument that the second hit was a penalty. Is he supposed to react in a split second after the first hit to get out of the way?
These refs are the most incompetent pieces of garbage I have ever seen.

The NFL is turning into the New Fairy league. They're taking everything away from the game that made it fun to watch.

Why? Seriously, why cant they continue to let the league go on as its been played? Thats the game I want to see. Thats the game the country wants to see. Thats the game these guys were brought up playing. Thats the game they signed up for.
Nobody is forcing these guys to play football. If its too rough or too dangerous, quit the game and go get a fucking real job. Id give up 10 years of my life to have the talent to play in the NFL, even if I risked getting a concussion or broken neck every single play. They get payed millions to play a childrens game. Either play the fucking game the way it was meant to be played or get the fuck out. But these bullshit calls need to end.
Its pussying the sport to suit whatever faggot "family friendly" people are crying about this shit. Theyve already ruined the sports of boxing and hockey. You have to be blind not to see once they cut the violence down in both sports they went to shit. Boxing gets regularly killed in PPV buys by UFC and hockey cant even get on regular tv. Why would you follow that example with a cash cow like the NFL?

as I've said before and will say again: the primary reason why Norv, Phillips, etc. still have their jobs is because 1) the lockout is looming 2) all the coaches have contracts 3) the coaches are not part of the player's union and thus get paid anyway, lockout or not.
Childress will keep his job because he's under contract to 2013, and everyone else will keep their job until the end of the season because there's no reason to double-up on paying coaches.

But, honestly, what good would firing Wade do? As Al noted, if you fire him in the middle of the season, you gotta replace him with someone in the staff. And Jason Garrett is as responsible for this mess as that fat load Wade is.

What does not firing Wade do? At this point not firing Wade Phillips is basically telling your fanbase to stay the fuck home, don't bother supporting the team because the season is over and we've given up for the year. As an owner that really shouldn't be the message you want to send to your fans. Unless you own the Pittsburgh Pirates that is.
Fire Phillips, put Garrett in charge and see what he can do. Is the season over? Of course it fucking is. But stop parading this fucking Gomer Pile fuck out there week after week. It's embarrassing.

Yeah, I guess it is kind of a "Why the fuck not" move at this point. I think they're gonna have to blow up that coaching staff at the end of the season anyway.
Why is Dez Bryant still out there? He's one of the few things the Cowboys can truly build their future on.

Jeff Fisher, Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick...all D coordinators. All had several years in their belt of shitty seasons. Now look at them. If they stuck to being a D coordinator after the first or second crappy season where do you think they'd be now?

Jeff Fisher was a D coordinator for one of the most dominant defense in football history. And even then it took awhile to get a head coaching job....which he still has. He took his team to the bowl and routinely gets them to overachieve.
Bellichick went from head coach in Cleveland, where he made the playoffs but didnt really do anything else, right back to being a D coordinator again for a long time before he got another shot, then he made it count.
Bill Parcells won the Super Bowl in his 4th year of head coach.
None of these guys can be compared to coaches like Wade Phillips, Norv Turner, Dave Wandstedt, etc. that received head coach jobs after head coach jobs without ever winning shit. Their teams wind up going in the toilet, they get fired, then get hired for another head coaching job somewhere else. Any GM that takes guys like this deserve to watch their team go down in flames. If the choice is between them and a coordinator looking to move up and make a name for himself, I take the coordinator every time.

Jeff Fishers W-L in the last ten years:
2000 13 3
2001 7 9
2002 11 5
2003 12 4
2004 5 11
2005 4 12
2006 8 8
2007 10 6
2008 13 3
The three years highlighted are worthy of him being fired. especially in two years when you go 9-23. I think many times (not all though) it's the Teams and not just the coach.
Bellicheck in Cleveland:
1991 6 10
1992 7 9
1993 7 9
1994 11 5
1995 5 11
ONE good year. Goes back to D coordinator and then finds another hear coaching job where he is one of the best in the game now.
Parcells....ok yes he is a proven winner as a head coach with every team he has been with. Took every single one of them to the Playoffs or their championship games after they were just outright laughable as a team. (Giants, Jets and Pats)
But the other two? They compare very nicely. Hell in 2005 Fisher had a "Wade Phillips" style season and no one would have been surprised if he got fired. But they stuck with him. So no...sometimes I am not surprised if they get second chances. and not only that, there is always college. Look at Carroll. Sucks as an NFL coach. Genius in the college level.

Look what you wrote. You really highlighted a 7-9 year, his 2nd year, the year after he took the team to the Super Bowl, and said that was a year he couldve been legitimately fired. Are you nuts? For real.
A bad record isnt a justifiable reason to fire a coach. When you are bringing in a new coach usually your team fucking blows and youre trying to rebuild it. Like when Andy Reid came to Philly. You lay out a plan to bring the team back up before you get the job, and usually you say how many years you expect it to take.
Andy Reid said he had a 5 year plan to get the Eagles in the Super Bowl, so basically he just needed to improve each year to show he was doing his job. His first year the Eagles were horrendous. They also had Doug Pederson as QB. Does that mean he couldve been legitimately fired after that season? No.
The 3 bad seasons Fisher had in a row came after 4 seasons where his racord was 43-21. He had earned himself some leeway to get things together. Now I dont remember at the time but if injuries or anything had anything to do with those records or not but thats another thing that needs to be considered.
Bellichick came and took over a shit team as well. Improving their record each year. The one year their record plummeted....he was gone, probably too soon.
But those other guys have histories of going to teams and accomplishing nothing. So constantly giving them head coaching jobs is just ridiculous. I have no problem with Pete Carroll. He went down to college and showed he deserved another shot at the pros.

So yes....4 years after his super bowl he goes 4-12 would be justified in many owners and fan's eyes to be fired. Not saying it would be right, but it would be a strong case.
The problem with only looking at record is that you aren't looking at the circumstances. Those were rebuilding years and those teams never quit. Phillips was supposed to be leading a contender and his team totally quit on him.
Never compare Wade Phillips to Jeff Fisher and expect to be taken seriously.

Not cutler's fault. Johnny Knox has been responsible for at least three Cutler ints.
Dropped passes in the NFL? Never!

The smartest thing the Bears did was put Devin Hester back on kick returns where he belongs.

Asshole Browns.
First the receiver fumbles the ball when they were in position to kick a winning FG then the defense allows Sanchez to run around for what seemed like an hour to find an open receiver.

seriously is there a luckier team then the jets? they should have lost to Denver lucky/awful interference call. Last week against Detroit you have a coach that makes terrible calls with limited time left when they could have came close to running the clock out and pinned the hets back with less then 40 seconds rather then closer to 2 minutes. then this week clev is on their own 3 yard line with 1:30 left. you run the ball and try to get breathing room or break one. if you dont at least you dont give the jets time and field position.
anyone who thinks the jets are one of the best in the league should seek help. this team is so overrated. they should be at best 4-5!

He also fumbled for a total of 4 turnovers.
On the drive where they kicked a FG to make it 17-13 or something he threw a pass in the endzone that got tipped and should've been picked.
It would've probably been the reciever's fault techinically but would've been another INT for him.
