manning teams have pretty much always been throw first, run light

while NE has gone through changes based on their talent at the rb position. this is part of why one can argue BB has been a better coach than most Peyton has had over his career.

Not to mention by Brady's second year, he was pretty much putting up 4,000 yards and 20+ tds every year. Pretty similar to Peyton overall, in fact, for their careers Manning has a 94.9 QB Rating and Brady comes in at 95.7.

Overall stats aren't fair yet, as after this year Manning will have ~ 3 years more of a sample size as he started at the position 3 years earlier and Brady missed all of 2008. Still, they are pretty much on similar tracks in terms of stats overall, with Manning being a tough higher in yards which is to be expected with their pass to run ratio. Different means (slightly) to similar means/winning.

Quite simply, your statement that Brady suddenly changed isn't so. The only stat that did was tds in that monster year with Moss and the undefeated run (similar to 04 for Manning). I think we can all understand that's not normal, unless your name is Rodgers right now!

Well sure he'll put up at least 2 versus Denver, as they blow on D. Yet, their pass rush will probably help a int or two, more if Rivers is in 2011 mode, and a fumble from him as well. Brown is good to go as long as Floyd is out, but Crayton is all but useless out there too so that helps.

Maclin is fucking damaged in a big way too, what a steal that is...especially now that you factor in the team is doomed and Young is the starter for a few weeks. All Rivers has to do is settle down the deep balls to nobody, bc he still has plenty of weapons with Gates back and overall he's still up there in stats (minus tds/int levels). Clearly it's his worst year in the NFL, but a run late again can save it and SD's playoff hopes only bc they are in the west.

that's like cross comparing studies in medicine and completely stupid

Jets were on the road in one and went from a very good strategic approach to shutting down the run game and option to more a zone and dropped more into coverage late. Instead of realizing Tebow couldn't really even hit wide open options, they decided to play the run and blitz with an awful rushing team, all the time never keeping contain and a rover on Tebow. While the Jet's d fucked it up in the end, they shut them down for most of the game, with some obvious help from Tebow's arm, but you expect that in planning.

The SD game had a team and qb playing pretty sloppy football based on coaching/prep and a qb off his game and forcing everything with any pressure. They get the ball and NY actually sets the D almost exactly the same, but in this case the noise and home field advantage is there for them. SD did admit to noise issues for them (pathetic for an NFL team with mics in the fucking helmet and being a vet qb/coach) and playing right into the d's strength/focus.
