You should have heard him on the radio after Al Davis died and how he turned memories of Al into how he should have/could have coached the Raiders. Simms almost immediately turned the conversation into how Davis was a GREAT mind, and he was this close to hiring Simms, a guy with ZERO coaching, much less head coaching, back when Davis actually had somewhat normal neuronal functioning. He talked about this crossroads bt the booth and coaching until the host asked him point blank (I can't remember who it was on WFAN/ESPN Radio?), did he offer you any job at all, and he had to say, "well no, but it was unspoken if I wanted it." From what I heard, he's so fucking full of himself he has not one clue as to how idiotic he normally sounds. The good news is his kid was obviously coached well by dad that he's now tearing up the league!

If only he really did coach, bc we may have been done with him by now if you think about it. He surely would have failed and been out of the league by now, especially if given a HC nod (completely unlikely even with Davis) so quickly. My reasons for despising his coverage are many. First off, his delivery, even IF it ever has substance is pure fucking boring and borders on a nuisance. If only it was just blah, bc to me his voice is completely grating and the confidence in which he says the garbage he normally does irks me even more. It's as if nobody has called him on his shit since middle school.

Second, his inability to remain even somewhat close to partial is awful. I get it Phil, you are a NY guy and first and foremost you call the NY market and have ties to it, especially NYG. However, you don't have to constantly defend everything NY, especially when they are off, playing bad and making mistakes a novice fan can see. It's as if he has stock in both teams and any little thing he says that is unbiased can lose him thousands. As bad as he is with the teams overall, he's even worse with the defense of the main players. HCs, Qbs and defensive/offensive leaders can literally blow a game and have it replayed 5 times on the broadcast and he'll find a way to show it wasn't said player/coach at fault.

Third, Simms in general. I dislike this guy so much I even hate the cheerios he eats in the morning, the car he drives and the sunblock he's forced to use in mid-January. He's just a vortex of suck that very few can compete with. Even his son sucks, just ask snoogans.
