why is this team still passing up by 17 with only 2 plus mins left? i really dont get this other then you can play def anymore so their is no risk because you will get flags against the def for everything. this is not the football i played growing up or watched my entire life.

It was 3rd and 7. They were trying not to give it back to the Lions. And it worked.

and what is one of those people? people that like the game played the right way? what about when they were up by 10 on the 45 of det and 3 plus mins left and threw a bomb on 1st down? yes it worked but you never give a team who needs possessions a chance to pick it off you run the clock out. but in this new shitty nfl its hard to play defense so i guess there really is no risk.

i dont care if you run up the score i care about playing to win and that was a mistake by new orleans. i dont care if someone runs up the score and if they did that with 10 mins left. but with 3 mins left and then again with 2 mins left you need to start running clock.

I was talking to my brother and my cousin before this det vs no game started and said this is the 1 game that would scare me. I had this weird feeling that if 1 team was due for a let down it is the saints. they have been too "on" and det is one team that could keep up with them offensively while having a good enough defense that if they are on could stop anyone.
I hope they wake up and win for my picks challenge but det looks pretty good right now and the saints looks a little lost. 11 points was a high line, i doubt the saints will cover but will they win? i hope so.

Yea well alot of the old timers think you shouldnt even risk an incomplete pass and stopping the clock for the other team. This isnt that NFL anymore. This is the pass pass pass league. The risk isnt the same as it used to be.

I dont know about always being bad at home but they just arent good enough this year and got lucky winning that div. Philly took way too long to get it together and by the time they did they came up short and dallas cost themselves 4 easy wins by doing exactly what the saints did last night. Dallas should have beaten Det, Jets, NYG (1st game) easily all by 2 tds or more plus the arz game. but bad coaching decisions and mistakes late in the 4th q after dominating all of those games cost them and gave the NYG a chance and the giants capitalized.
they still have a chance to win but they do look bad on offense so far today. have they even tried to throw to cruz yet?

I am so sick of this horrible refereeing I'm starting to consider giving up on this season. Especially since he could have iced the game in regulation by hitting a wide open WR. He had no pressure, the reciever was wide open directly in front of him 10 yards away and he threw it short and 5 yards in front of the WR.

You can think and analyze things. If you want anyone to take you seriously when the extent of your analysis is looking at the final score and saying "He has to be a good QB, he won the game!" don't expect to be taken seriously.
Any halfway decent QB would have torched a defense where both safeties were deep in the box 75% of the time. Tebow didn't manage to complete half his passes.

his passes have no spiral to them and almost all go downwards to the dirt. he cant hit wide open guys and misses sideline routes by 5 yards. please he sucks and is very lucky, his terrible play is actually helping them because teams stack the line and he gets 1-3 actual pass plays that work for big plays. he complete less then 50% of his passes but had like 300 yards that because he had 3 huge plays. he stinks

I just watched the replay. It was 15 yards, at the most. And Tebow doesn't call the plays. He didn't read the defense, he just threw it to one of the two receivers on the play.

tebow did nothing but finally throw a pass to a guy in stride. he didnt read the def he didnt change the play the coach called this play because he had a feeling this was going to be what pitt did. do you watch football? that was the only play that could have been made, it was called and that wr was the only option it was fuck up or complete and the rest is up to the wr.

I don't think Tebow is a great or even good QB, but this is not the game to be ripping the guy. He made some really good passes deep up the sideline today and played what I thought was a really good game. Sure, some of his passes weren't great looking, but he did more than enough to win this game. I like the guy, but I think thats only b/c so many people shit on him.

That play was a routine pass for an NFL QB. Tebow had numerous opportunities similar to that play throughout the entire game and either threw an inaccurate pass or couldn't read it. Even Phil Simms was repeatedly pointing out the wide open receivers he missed.

Again: Tebow read the defense. THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE SECONDARY TO STOP HIM.
Again: TEBOW DOESN'T CALL HIS OWN PLAYS. HE HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN TWO RECEIVERS ON THE PLAY.
He also threw it BEHIND his receiver, with no defender leading. Thomas made the catch and scored.
And rewatching it, I think Thomas was the ONLY receiver on the play. They have to "nascar" down the playbook so much that they only give him ONE option on a play.

This fucking game wasnt one of them. He put up more passing yards against Pitts D than any other QB this season. He put up 316 yards (nice little coincidence) and won the game on a fucking pass.

Well see thats the difference, Jeff George threw the most picture perfect pass in the NFL and couldnt win dick. Id take Tebow over that guy in a minute. Ive said it 1000 times. There is a list of qualities that make a good QB. Alot of it is arm related. Strength, accuracy, etc. but theres also heart, leadership, and brains. Tebows got all 3 of those. If QBs like McNabb with good arms can win without having the heart than maybe a guy like this can win while leaning on the attributes hes got.

When the team needed him to put them on his shoulders, give them a guy they could believe in, he couldnt do it.

He was throwing to the likes of James Thrash, Todd Pinkston and Reggie Brown for most of his career in Philly. He wasn't the best clutch guy, he probably single-handedly cost the Eagles the NFC Championship Game against the Cardinals but he had his moments, won a ton of games, played the Patriots in their prime in the Super Bowl in a close game.

I thought about it and I realize why I like Tebow:
My favorite NFL player is Wayne Chrebet. He's not a hall of famer (we all know that's Mangold's spot) but he was essential an underdog. He was told by the people who "know football" that he's too small, he's too slow, he'll never make it in the game.

My favorite NFL player is Wayne Chrebet. He's not a hall of famer (we all know that's Mangold's spot) but he was essential an underdog. He was told by the people who "know football" that he's too small, he's too slow, he'll never make it in the game.

to be honest, i dont think anyone hates tebow. he is a moron (cause his beliefs, but thats my opinion, so) but he doesnt seem like a bad guy. in fact, im sure he is actually a really decent kid. its about how other people (fans and media) act and talk (at great length) about him. People hate the coverage of tebow.
Everyone knows he isnt that good. he isnt a top level QB and doesnt have a chance in hell at being one. He doesnt deserve to get that much more attention than guys who are WAYYY better. thats what pisses people off. Ive dealt with this shit for 6 fuckin years now. it was the same shit at Florida. When you are right you are right...
The terms of citizenship are interpreted very strictly. A President must be a natural born citizen, meaning that immigrants are not eligible to run for President, no matter how long they have lived in the United States. If a child of American citizens is born abroad, he or she is technically considered a natural born citizen, and can therefore hold Presidential office. In addition, a Presidential candidate must have actually lived in the United States for at least 14 years, presumably so that he or she is aware of general issues which impact the American populace.

If he was born in the US, he's a citizen (hence the term anchor baby)
But if he was born abroad to one citizen and one non-citizen, then that's the problem. That's why people were flipping out, they thought he was born abroad.
From Wikipedia:
Birth abroad to two United States citizens
A child is automatically granted citizenship in the following cases:
Both parents were U.S. citizens at the time of the child's birth
The parents are married
At least one parent lived in the United States prior to the child's birth. INA 301(c) and INA 301(a)(3) state, "and one of whom has had a residence."
The FAM (Foreign Affairs Manual) states "no amount of time specified."
A person's record of birth abroad, if registered with a U.S. consulate or embassy, is proof of citizenship. They may also apply for a passport or a Certificate of Citizenship to have their citizenship recognized.
NATURALIZED citizens (like Schwarzenegger) can't run because they became citizens later in life.
Being on US soil has nothing to do with it if both parents are citizens.

The only reason he was a first round pick is because McDaniels was an idiot.
And the thing the Tebow haters keep parroting is how much different the college game is than the pro game, and how Tebow doesn't have the skills to make it as a pro quarterback.
He wasn't an underdog in college. But he definitely qualifies as one now, because most people think he's not a good football player and the key is he will NEVER make it as a pro football player.

Obama's problem (the whole birther issue) is the theory that he was NOT born in America, he was born in Keyna, where his dad is from.

I am so sick of this horrible refereeing I'm starting to consider giving up on this season. First blowing the obvious backward pass on Pittsburgh's last drive, and then that ridiculous pass interference call. So receivers can just stop and when they are run into by a trailing cornerback it's interference?
I'm tired of watching games and wondering how the game would have turned out had the refs not blown a shitload of calls.
I completely agree on this. And not ONE of those 15 yarders should have been called, yet if so, how ISN'T that helmet to helmet called on Denver later? I fucking HATE this defenseless wr/head shots rule if it's just part of the play/game. It's one thing to spear a guy on the ground or while tackling, it's another to have it happen during a good football play/pass breakup. We'll never have another Ronnie Lott, Ronnie Harrison or even Dawkins/Palalfjaofamamanau for that matter. They become labeled like Dunta Robinson instead of being forces and feared in the middle of the field.

Sad for him, though, that no one will mention his name this week. It will be all Tebow. ESPN is now talking about how Tebow progressed as a passer. HE THREW A 9 YARD SLANT THAT THOMAS TURNED INTO AN 80 YARD GAME WINNER.
Are you trying to say nobody knows of DT or did even last year as he battled through injuries? The dude just missed a 100 yard game to go with a td in his first week of action off a camp injury in week #2 of his rookie season. Seriously?
If it was a swing pass, I could see your point, but Tebow read the fucking defense and got the ball to him 10-15 yards off the line. IT WAS OPEN FIELD FROM THAT POINT. He gave a stiff arm to one safety and that was it.
I'm not saying that was all Tebow, but lets not act he shook off four defenders and took a bunch of hits doing down field.
The same can be said to you on this, bc he did NOT make some fancy read there as it was the play call by McCoy and set up by the team/McCoy the whole fucking game. Pay attention fanboy.

LMAO You guys can love him all you want. I watched every game he played here start to finish. I saw a guy that could play great when he was up 20 points, that benefited by a Jim Johnson led phenominal defense, and a coach that saw his limitations and came up with a game plan that supported his strengths getting tight ends and RBs that could catch and run like Chad Lewis, Brent Celek, Brian Westbrook and Shady McCoy. When the team needed him to put them on his shoulders, give them a guy they could believe in, he couldnt do it.
Thats why 2 years after hes off the team, after other people were crowing how he was gonna lead Washington to a division title, hes sitting at home and theres not one team in the league that even wants him as a backup.
he's old ts, it's pretty simple ... not to mention he seemingly got more and more out of shape and lost his ground game/support altogether.

It's funny bc it's so idiotic AND it's linking him to your name too!
And tenbats, cool story bro!
The two players you compare aren't even close in story in any fucking way! Most people who don't even like the jets never hated on Wayne Chrebet. So just stop with this line of crap too, thanks.
exactly, i liked him for his toughness and that he played all out and made a league that usually turns its back to guys like him.
Even Jets haters like me couldnt hate chrebet or Curtis Martin etc.

And Harrison was fucking soooo awful in this game and played very selfish/stupid football. He continues to lose his outside contain and let up so many huge plays overall. On top of this, Clark was missed so much it was unreal. And finally, Ben took 20 step drops like fucking Rivers earlier this year and it killed him overall. He didn't often stay in the pocket in fearless fashion until late in the game, and it worked too. Pitt was a 10 yard pass from setting up for a good chance to win this game with 30 seconds left. Only with Tebow can they shit to bed with a sack/fumble combo to lose that shot and then get the ball to win in that fucking fashion. I said it watching with family, this game was done even though I was rooting for the reverse Tebow.

Haw haw!
I missed the discussion of the last few pages. I think this is the summary:
1. Tebow likes Jesus
2. Tebow and Sanchez are both shitty QBs.
3. Thomas is a great WR
4. Marty wants Tebow to be the President.
Did I miss anything?

Here's the thing: if Tebow can actually learn to throw, he is indeed gonna be awesome. But the fact is that the Steelers were completely giving up the pass all day, and he was still successful on less than half of his passes.
I know that Tebow does seem to have this thing of making some awesome play at just the right time, but you can't count on that. A franchise quarterback can't suck most of the time but have a "flash of brilliance" at the end; they've gotta be great the entire game.
Tebow has the "intangibles" that they always talk about for a QB: he's smart, he seems to be a good leader, and, as much as he can suck the rest of the game, he doesn't seem to choke. But you need more than "intangibles." The problem with Tebow is the fundamental mechanics of his game. And it may be, sadly, that he just doesn't have what he needs to fix those.
Until Tebow shows much more consistency in his passing game, the Broncos would be stupid to commit to him as their franchise quarterback. And I think Elway knows this, but the stupid fans are just blown away by him and think that benching him means you hate Jesus.

Are you trying to say nobody knows of DT or did even last year as he battled through injuries? The dude just missed a 100 yard game to go with a td in his first week of action off a camp injury in week #2 of his rookie season. The guy was the first fucking WR picked in the 2010 draft out of GT, 22nd overall and before Dez Bryant.
This is FAR from some crazy sleeper, sneaky pick to be a good wr...even in Denver. The guy is a monster, he just needs to stay fucking healthy.
No, I meant I talked about how great he was a couple weeks ago (and how much better he'd be without Tebow) and people here commented about how come he hadn't put up huge numbers before. I think you agreed with me.
He had disappeared in Denver, but he's a fucking beast.

This Tebow stuff drives me crazy.
Sure there are people on the the exreme who want to give him all of the credit but there are far too many more that disecet a game finding out why they win in spite of Tebow.
I mean everybody knew going into the game that Pittsburgh was banged up but they still had Harrison, Polemoleu ( sp ??? ), Big Ben and Hines Ward some of their better players.
Yet now the reason they lost has nothing to do what what Denver did but what Pittsburgh couldn't do because of injuries ?
You don't hear much about how good offensive lines and kickers when Brady wins but all of a sudden when a " below average " QB helps his teams win games it's all about the supporting cast and not the QB.
I didn't think Denver had a chance to win that game as I didn't think they had a chance to win against the Jets and I don't think they'll beat the Patriots
But obvioulsy they are doing something right and it's working so who knows.
I guess I can expect to hear about who the Patriots didn't have for the game if Denver pulls off te upset.

I hate when broadcasters and sports talk people refer to players by their nicknames.
And why the hell is Matt Ryan known as " Matty Ice " ?
Does he have some incredible winning percentage or come from behind record that I'm unaware of ?
What's so " ice " about him ?
