Facts:
1) LT was asked to re-work his contract (not that he STEPPED UP to do it) as early as July 27th when Asomugha was still in play.
2) The Jets cut a ton of talent in expectation of Asomugha signing and were expected to talk with Sanchez to make the contract to work if Asomugha agreed. The Jets, with all their moves, had 10 million in cap space. (as reported by Shefter and posted in this thread)
3) Asomugha signs with the Eagles.
Once that happens, there is no need to re-work the big contracts. They still have that cap space, they bring back Brunell, etc. sign Plax, and sign role players.

He was right, but reported huh?
And it still doesn't say anything on how it came about, via LT or management. Good news is that 1 million will help so much. How long did you search for that and was it fun to read for the first time?
Oh and this ass tweets more than JustJon, so he pretty much throw shit at a wall all fucking day hoping to be heard and seen when one sticks. Even he is waiting on Sanchez's contract restructure.

From the NYDN on July 28th:
TAKE ONE FOR TEAM
The News has learned that the Jets have asked LaDainian Tomlinson to rework his contract and take a reduction in salary in the final year of his two-year deal. Tomlinson was scheduled to earn a $2.4 million base salary this season.
Three days after Mark Sanchez admitted that he was amenable to restructuring his contract to free up salary-cap space to sign free agents, the Jets have not reached out to Nick Mangold, D'Brickashaw Ferguson or Darrelle Revis to restructure their contracts.

Facts:....not fact, based on a tweet's "sources" and not confirmed at all. Not to mention LT basically stepped up regardless bc he can get that money still or more being just a 3rd down back. Sanchez has not stepped up.
1) LT was asked to re-work his contract (not that he STEPPED UP to do it) as early as July 27th when Asomugha was still in play. In play, not in play doesnt' matter at all. LT restructured, Sanchez didn't. It's reported NOW that he stepped up on all sports media (Fox sports, NFL and ESPN) that he "stepped up" for his shitty captain who makes false promises.
2) The Jets cut a ton of talent in expectation of Asomugha signing and were expected to talk with Sanchez to make the contract to work if Asomugha agreed. The Jets, with all their moves, had 10 million in cap space. (as reported by Shefter and posted in this thread) He never once mentioned NA, but re-sign Jets and his wrs in particular and other free agents was the toss in. The focus was on his wrs and they signed one for big money (overpaid Holmes) and still not a peep. Still waiting for him to back that claim up.
3) Asomugha signs with the Eagles.
Once that happens, there is no need to re-work the big contracts. They still have that cap space, they bring back Brunell, etc. sign Plax, and sign role players. Yes, no need at all to restructure anyone so it happened, bc LT offered it up.

I did if you could read, bc this had little to do with NA, you play that angle up to make a bs argument. He made the statement first and foremost to re-sign players and spoke a ton on the main guys being (of course) his receivers. Once again, for those so slow and can't follow, the Jets paid over value (in my mind) and definitely millions of dollars to keep Holmes the number one target player to keep. Sanchez quiet and after that LT restructures. Read that slowly and just try your hardest. It had so little to do with any one free agent at the time, but your current players. You made that connection bc it helps your "false reality".

Sanchez also said in the press conference he'd throw left handed if it would help the team win. So if he's not the second coming of Ken Stabler, he's also a liar?
Do you think Sanchez would just walk into the Jets HR office and hand money back? The Jets have to ask him first and they never did. And there is no reason to. The Jets signed Santonio, they got another WR, and there was never a NEED to restructure his contract with the cap space the Jets had. And the Jets wanted to get more cap space which is why LT took a pay cut.
You want to know why LT took the paycut?
Because if the Jets flat out cut him loose, there's a glut of RBs on the market and LT had no guarantee of catching on with a team that gave him the best shot of winning the superbowl or making the money he could have made.
It's fucking Machiavellian, but that's what happened.
So stop acting like LT rode in on a white horse and slayed the evil Sanchez dragon and took a paycut for the good of the team.

So the Jet's didn't need to restructure the contract almost 10x that of the other, but the other they need more cap space from so LT took the cut? Got it!
You want to know why LT took the paycut? Yes, Sanchez is captain take back.
Because if the Jets flat out cut him loose, there's a glut of RBs on the market and LT had no guarantee of catching on with a team that gave him the best shot of winning the superbowl or making the money he could have made. I hope they cut him now and whatever team he goes to win the SB and pays him 2 mill. "no guarantee of catching on with a team that gave him the BEST shot of winning the super bowl or making the money he could have made"? WTF does that even mean? Is that more Jet's are the bestest and he can't do better bs wrapped in he can't get 2 mill somewhere? That's funny. A 34 year old criminal 2 years out of the league can score 3 mill most guaranteed but he can't get 2 mill or close? Come on. He almost ran for 1k in a timeshare of sorts (later of course) with a 4.2 yards per carry. Whole other argument, next time.
It's fucking Machiavellian, but that's what happened.
So stop acting like LT rode in on a white horse and slayed the evil Sanchez dragon and took a paycut for the good of the team. He took the paycut for the detriment of the team and Sanchez flew in on a Griffin to just talk loud like most things Jet's, got it.

I told you he threw the other guys names out when the media asked him directly. he did that to basically say ask them too or ask them instead meaning the team should and not ask him! that was my original take.

Now it seems 4 players have restructured their contracts, not one named Sanchez. Leadership at it's finest! (http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2011/08/jets_running_back_ladainian_to.html)
As they attacked their list, they needed some help from the players already on their roster to make the finances work with the return of the salary cap. Among them, running back LaDainian Tomlinson, a future Hall of Famer, agreed to take a pay cut.
"The thinking was, I really like this team, and I felt like we had a great opportunity to win," Tomlinson said. "That was the No. 1 thing in my mind, to be somewhere where you have a chance to win a Super Bowl. I've said that all along, now I guess I have to prove the words that I had always said. I want the opportunity to win a championship."
ESPN reported that Tomlinson agreed to reduce his $2.625 million salary down to $1.1 million this year.
Per the post-lockout rules, players who rework their contracts are not permitted to practice until the start of the new league year on Thursday. At this morning's walk-through, linebackers Bart Scott and Calvin Pace also sat out. Neither has known injuries, so it's a good indication both reworked their contracts as well.
Scott was due $4.9 million in base salary this year. Pace was due $3.855 million. Both had higher cap hits.
Back-up quarterback Mark Brunell, who was released last week and re-signed Sunday at a lower salary, also sat out.
Even their backup seems committed to Sanchez's claim he put out for others, not really himself. Good news is the team does seem to have some team first guys, just not their "captain".

Bradshaw contract pretty solid overall, now hold that ball versus an extra 4 yards and fumble.
oh and... General manager Mike Tannenbaum would not comment specifically on reports that say he's shopping around Cotchery to free up cap space.
On the possibility of adding Randy Moss (who reportedly will retire) or another wideout threat, he said: "we're good at receiver now."
It's not twitter, but this has been reported as recently as right now. I guess they still don't need space after at least 2, probably 4 restructured! All Sanchez has to do is put that money on hold while vets reduce their salaries by 60%!

Sunday, Edwards was allegedly at the South Bar in Birmingham. Reportedly two people in his entourage were arrested after roughing up some employees around two o'clock in the morning.
Around that same time, Edwards tweeted, "Damn. Get ya knuckles ready" and "Don't fight if. You don't know how."
We're told the group of friends Edwards was with got into an argument with an employee at the nighttime hot spot that eventually spilled into the kitchen. There one worker was sliced with a knife requiring 14 stitches. Another was attacked with a fork.

apparently Mr Edwards isnt as innocent as first thought (http://deadspin.com/5827404/braylon-edwards-may-have-started-the-nightclub-brawl-he-allegedly-wasnt-involved-in)
The whole thing began when Braylon and his cousins got heated with a group of men—our source says "thugs"—from Detroit. Bouncers asked the thugs to leave, and they did, but Braylon was still peeved, because the thugs had showed him up. "We basically saved Braylon's life by talking the thugs out of brawling with his crew," the source says.
Then, Braylon "decided to rush into the kitchen and attack the bus boy by throwing punches and throwing him to the ground." But Braylon and his entourage—according to the Observer and Eccentric, they were Braylon's cousins, Tre and Edmund Wright—were soon surrounded by bouncers. They responded by stabbing bar staff. (Both men have been charged with one count of felonious assault).
We're told bouncers held those two down until police arrived, but other elements of the entourage slipped away through the club's back door, and evaded interaction with the police.

If he had this much involvement in this, he won't be playing this year, or at least shouldn't. I go back to the DUI that the Jet's backed him and made his sit one whole series as how Rex deals with assholes. He simply placates them and allows them to exist. THAT is why assholes around the league want to play there mainly. Sure he's been winning and his tattoo shows the confidence he has in himself loud and clear! But to me it's his ability to look the other way bc he too is a loud mouthed fool and let's his players get away with murder.
Would many other teams dealt with that situation as they did? Heck, even the Cro blurt on BB and the Pats? You saw how BB dealt with his player (Welker) when he took a jab in a press conf in a much less caustic and comedic way. I've never gone so quick from hating one org to rooting for them over another in the conf I never had given a shit about in the past one way or the other.

No no, he is a word twister AGAIN, bc I assume he's referring to me in normal idiotic fashion only Tenbats can muster. Every single word I wrote stands and not once did anyone claim he's currently a Jet. In fact, Matty is the only person who ever wrote as much up to that point. No Matt, I CONNECTED his current issue directly and added to what Snoogans was eluding to about the Jet's picking up high risk/reward players bc character isn't held in high regard there. You really are a trip and a baby with your team like no other.
At least Snacks says he's being a homer on some topics with Miami and you just laugh it off. You really believe this fog of shit premise you put out there for your team, and it's pathetic. I get it, Braylon has no ties to the last team he played for and was picked up for scraps bc of his HUGE issues. He little problems with the Jets bc his coach pretty much ignored them and basically laughed at his DUI. If he was on the Chargers I'd HATE it, if still on the Jets you'd push for him to be enshrined beside Namath in Canton.

Braylon Edwards' one-year contract with the 49ers is for just $1 million with no guarantees.
The deal was previously reported as a $3.5 million contract, but Edwards will only earn that if he catches 90 balls and goes to the Pro Bowl. In other words, it's not happening. If he has an average year, he'll make around $2 million. It's a reminder of just how far Edwards' stock has fallen. The Niners didn't overpay for Edwards' name and fantasy owners shouldn't either. 1) Twitter accounts for NEWS SOURCES are usually verified, which is a fact checking process by Twitter admins to confirm identities.. Schefter and La Canfora are both verified.
2) Do you honestly think Schefter or La Canfora, who is an actual employee of the league because he works for NFL Network, would just go on twitter and make up shit? The reason why people follow them on twitter is because they are well respected journalists, not dirt shirt writers you'd see on the Bleacher Report or something.
3) A lot of times, a tweet from a beat writer has a short tease with facts and then a link to the article that goes into more detail.

Floyd’s presence creates a good problem for San Diego, who now has a surplus of receivers that appear capable of contributing at the NFL level. Part of that can be attributed to injuries last year, which made it possible for Seyi Ajirotutu, Kelley Washington and Richard Goodman to get game experience with the Chargers. Now they’re part of an abundance of receivers competing for roster spots behind Jackson, Floyd and Patrick Crayton.
Nice resigning by SD, now if only they could find a real coach. As I say every year, if they ever win with Norv, a good coach would have done so with ease.
Add to these receivers Gates and this core is really something. I think Brown is easily better than Davis (who wouldn't be at this pt/complete bust), and Crayton/Ajirotutu filled in well with all the injuries last year. Goodman is more a special teamer and Washington as well. Still, Rivers can make lesser players look good, but the team should be very good this year granted the RBs can hold their own (Mathews stay healthy, not his norm) and the D stay strong continue to grow.

I've never been a SD fan, but I still gotta hope Washington keeps his job. He's a local kid, who has bounced around a lot since he entered the NFL. I'm just curious. I couldn't imagine wearing a sports jersey without actually playing for a team. If I were a hipster, I'd be wearing old school basketball jerseys all the time.
Where do you wear them?
And you should definitely judge anyone who wears Affliction shirts.
I'd usually wear jerseys if I'm going to a game, or going to an event like training camp, or I'm getting together with friends to watch football. In other words, I wear jerseys a majority of the time for team and sport related things.
I'd also wear them during the summer when it's really hot because the mesh of the jersey with a wifebeater or a sleeveless T underneath is very cooling.

People wear jerseys all over. Not just football but hockey, basketball and baseball too. It's a multi million dollar business. I never got why people had such a problem with others wearing them. They're just shirts. I see people wearing regular clothes that look ten times worse every day.

i have a question for all the jersey hating people. So is someone a fag for wearing a t shirt with a logo on it? Cause for all intents and purposes, its the same fuckin thing. You are just tryin to show support for the team and a player you like.
Its not cause we think we are somehow gonna get in the game.
For the record, most of my jersey wearing is at an event or if i dont have anything to do and just need to throw on a shirt. But some of them things are fuckin nice. Soccer jerseys, especially. I dont see why its a big deal if i feel like wearing it to the game

I think it's a matter of time with TV technology that logos will be superimposed on the field.
Personally, I would NOT wear a jersey with a company's name on it. The MLS team I follow just did a deal with BIMBO bakeries and I will absolutely NOT wear a jersey with that logo. I wear team apparel, but not a jersey. I'm not a walking billboard. I mean, you want me to pay money to wear another company's logo? Not happening.
When I bought my car, the same thing happened - the car had no logo for the dealership on it and it was part of my agreement that the car is not branded with the dealership unless they knocked another 1000 bucks off the price.
I think it's different in NASCAR because the sponsor is SO tied in with team identity, and it also has to do with the sponsor being "cool" or not.

I don't think it's unusual, I just think it's retarded. Wearing it to a game, I get, I guess. But I just can't see dropping that type of cash, especially on a NFL jersey, for a player that won't be on the team in 3 years.

A majority of the authentic stitched jerseys I have are of retired players who retired on the team. Namath, Gastineau, Chrebet, Richter, Messier. I have a lot of chinese knockoffs of current players (Mangold, Revis) but the Mangold one is too small, so it kinda turned me off to getting knockoffs.
I wouldn't pay full price for an authentic, but the NFL store has a ton of deals that go on, so if one came up for 20 or 25 percent off I'd feel better.

I think Namath and Chrebet would run neck and neck between older fans (Namath) and younger fans (Chrebet).
I don't think I'd be able to rank them properly, but a list of the 20 most popular jets would probably go Namath, Chrebet, Al Toon, Mark Gastineau, Joe Klecko, Abdul Salaam, Dennis Byrd, Testaverde, Curtis Martin, Nick Mangold, Sanchez, Revis, Pennington, Freeman McNeil, Wesley Walker, Maynard... probably a few others. I have never liked any jets until Chrebet! He was a great story of a guy who didnt have the size or speed but worked hard enough and had a pretty good career. I HATE when you go to a Giants/Eagles game and you have those look at me fans wearing THEIR favs not even playing! In fact, I'm not even a fan of any specific player's jersey for the very reason CJ is fed up buying them, players simply move too much and too often these days. As for most popular Jets, you have to defer to the more recent top players and icons. I'd bet Revis and Namath would each easily be top 3, with guys like Sanchez and hell even Rex as a coach if that was allowed for in the poll. I'm not ripping their fans on this one either, as people have short memories and rarely see past recent triumphs or good players. Look at that fucking Jeter poll atrocity for example.
Or hell, even in SD where the fans just voted Phillip Rivers the best QB of all-time in SD by a good margin. Fouts is still ranked high, but he and others are just forgotten for a guy, who I LOVE mind you, hasn't done anything overall just yet. I realize not one SD QB won a Super Bowl unless you count Brees in NO (which I don't of course), but Stan Humphries helped get them there and Fouts got close many times with just TERRIBLE defenses around him. He'd have to win games 48-45 just to get there with that paper bag defense during most of his tenure.

Like any drug there are useful applications TS, but the problem is many physicians don't see the risk/benefit ratio being strong enough to widely use this product in other areas without more testing. In fact, quality of life couldn't be more vague? For what type of patient over 40 are we speaking? Also, if a doc DOES deem it necessary, they can go "off-label" if need be and it's warranted in that case.

Its been awhile since I read the article, but from what I remembered it basically helps slow up the aging process drastically as your body stops producing it after the age of 25. The whole point of it was doctors and scientists that were pissed off because they couldnt find anything wrong with it, yet were being halted from prescribing it to people because people were worried about athletes using it.
They made a good point. Why should a drug that could help millions of people be shelved because we are worried about athletes cheating? In the grand scheme of things why does it fucking matter if they cheat or not? Try to catch them if you can, if you cant, who gives a fuck? Its just a game. The giants are in trouble. The only good thing they did was keep Bradshaw at a cheep price. I think the Giants at best go 8-8 and thats only because Wash is in their division. Talk about another team Wash has no QB, RB and their WRs are Moss and then nothing!
I know miami isnt going anywhere either so I might as well stop you there. I think 8-8 for them too would be lucky 7-9 would be more likely. I would be excited if they made it to 9-7 but that wont happen til they get a new coach!

Being honest though, the Giants lost more games in weird ways than most last year. To me they aren't as bad as everyone likes to think, especially since they simply couldn't hold on to the ball. That can be fixed if coached right, and I'm sure it's a focus right now for many key players here. I'm not convinced they'll be out of the picture as much as some here think. In fact, I think they'll have a great shot at a playoff spot, with much of their hopes pending on simply holding on to the ball.

i agree. i think the lockout helps them alot too. for the most part, every single player who will be in a key role for the giants already knows the offense, the coaching staff, the timing with the QB. If they could learn to hold onto a fuckin football, i see no reason why they couldnt win more than the 10 games they won last year.

How ridiculous is the situation out there in Denver? Tebow has looked like shit from everything that has been written and Orton has looked miles ahead of him. Yet the fans want Tebow and so does the local media.
I never understood why Chicago didnt keep Orton as the starter after his rookie year when he went like 10 or 11 and 5? He has looked great as a starter in Denver both seasons. It wasnt his fault the team sucked last year it was the defense. They should stick with a guy who have proven to be a solid nfl qb not someone who is all college hype.

Orton has NEVER looked great. He's just been Trent Dilfer-esque season after season. He has no upside because he's reached it. Do you stay with the middle of the road QB or do you risk it for the terrible guy who has some sort of indescribable upside?

What upside does Tebow have that he talks to Jesus? Hes not accurate, he has happy feet, he obviously cant count because he cant get the 3 step drop back down and he still cant play under center. Orton has better #s then Dilfer and Dilfer did win a super bowl towards the end of his career so I would think Denver or just about any team would be happy with that.

Orton will never move above where he is. I'm not saying Tebow has legitimate upside, but people think he does, so they're willing to invest in him, especially on a terrible team. If he lived up to just a bit of his upside, he'd be better than Orton.
And yes, Dilfer was on a team that won a super bowl, but the team won because of the defense. All Dilfer had to do was not be a complete negative.

Denver has to have made some of the WORST draft picks I could remember. By this I mean picks that pretty much even a novice could see, not something like the Raiders just taking speed every draft versus actual talent or Detroit taking wideouts in the first for years. All have been terrible, but Denver has both Clarett and Tebow on the recent resume and each could have been had much later, if not as a free agent in Clarett's case. They routinely fall for guys with hype and fanfare, as agents must really influence them overall to pick their guy earlier. I guess Tebow still has a shot, but I for one am happy bc the Broncos should suck. It's just feels so right.

Well actually, the AFC West only had one team under .500 and overall there are many similarities. Just bc we live the NFC East around here (northeast and on this board), it doesn't make that true.
Similarities to me.
1) Both had favorites to win the division that underachieved and had coaching issues (SD and Dallas).
2) The divisions each have one team completely in disarray, both used to be perennial playoff forces (Denver/Washington).
3) Both teams that finished second can tie it down to REALLY bad losses in games to division rivals, including the eventual division champions. In fact, both lost a game due to long punt returns in the end.

That's just not a fair comp there, you picked the top two (predicted) in one division versus the middle of the other.
A fair comp would be all other 3 vs 3 or SD/KC vs Philly/NY or Dal. I'd say the biggest dif is the third best team until Oakland loses their owner, but then again, tie them to Washington (Davis/Snider) and there you have another similarity.

everything is the same look and feel of the paid vs the free cbs leagues. the only difference is you dont control the league or the rules. they are basic fantasy rules and line ups. i still dont know if the league could be private or not but even if it has to be public you can list that you want to keep it invite only and you can also fill it up yourself before anyone else gets a chance to use it. i usually only use the paid site anyway but sometimes i want to join another league for the hell of it.
